It would appear that I have sold my C4 Picasso (in the classifieds) with a blown turbo to a chap in Cyprus. He telephoned me this morning, sounds genuine and doesn't want to transfer excess money into my account.

He has requested my IBAN number for the money transfer, given me the name of the shipping company he uses (Andrews Shipping in Enfield) and if I want to contact his brother who is a dentist in Camblerley I can.

So, in the true style of PH, do I trust this chap? He has since emailed me the details of his business and seems genuine.

AFK Discount Spares LTD Larnaca. Presumably, there is money to be made from a Grand Picasso with a blown turbo in Cyprus?

If I were in your position, I'd be more comfortable if his brother paid me cash and took the car away to be shipped to his brother.

Andrews Shipping do a lot to Cyprus, I've exported a fair few through them (and their chap Spyros Spyrou) so that side stacks up. I used to export Mercedes to Cyprus a lot (I found the dealer whilst I was in Nicosia last week but sadly they were shut for the day) and they used to take a fancy to all sorts, not the really rare stuff, things which you might imagine they could get closer to home.

I'd go for it.

Indeed, but I don't think that is likely to happen.

He sounded perfectly genuine, his English was better than mine and he replied to a text I sent him almost immediately (allowing for travel time to Cyprus).

I think I trust him. Especially now that another poster has said that Andrews do a lot to Cyprus.
