Can any one tell me the length of the throttle link rod (from throttle lever to throttle lever where the ball joint bolts through) on a 4.5 or knows for sure if it is the same length as a 4.2

I am looking at making up a batch of carbon fibre/rose joint ones and it would be really nice if the same link would fit both engines.

Mines off the car atm, can run it down to you if you want? I dont have anything at home to take millimetre accurate measurements.

Thanks Steve,
Just a rough measurement would be great for now - there needs to be a reasonable amount of adjustment in them, so it is only if the 4.2 one is more than a couple of cm different I will need to make them separately.

the 4.5 rod is about half the length. carbon fibre is possibly one of the worst things you could make it out of? you want something that expands with heat more than the std aluminium rod to help prevent the 2nd throttle opening due to expansion of the engine as it gets hot.

Hmmm - scratch that then, I hadn't allowed for the engine expanding as well! Thanks for the insight Joo!

I wonder if nylon 66 is stiff enough. linear thermal expansivity of aluminium is 22x10-6 m/m K
nylon 66 is 85x10-6 m/m K

I manufactured a few for people out of 10mm stainless hex bar and proper left and right handed threads for adjustment. With rose joints. By far I have found it easier to adjust the throttles when setting them up and the engine retains a stable idle throughout.
