Fill Fuel Tank to the Top?

I was told by the previous owner not to fill up the fuel tank to the top. He gave a woolly answer that it can damage the engine, I think he was told by someone else.

Can anyone cast any light on this as not being able to fill up my Chim is a bit of a pain.

Fill it till the pump cuts off but if you keep on going for loads of clicks off then I believe you can get fuel being sucked down the vent pipe into the carbon canister filter that's in the nose of your Chim...

That makes more sense, I couldn't see how the engine could get damaged from over filling.

Do you guys all use super unleaded?

I did, until finding out that it runs fine on 95.
