Ford Escort XR3i

SRG 860 Y Where are you now ?

£5850 iirc

Cannot even remember if you could get any extras for it.

Just been talking about it after seeing a Duran Duran video on MTV , funny how a certain track (Rio) got me and the dragon talking about our first new car.

Happy days

If it was still about and happens to be vgc it's probably now worth the same as you paid for it 30 years ago.

ETA: Beaten to it biggrin

Although come to think was that before SORN was introduced? IE is there a tiny chance it's languishing in a garage or barn somewhere? confused Never quite sure on how it works on cars that are long-term unlicensed but still exist physically.

Extras in those days on Golf GTI's and XR3's etc would be things like electric windows, metallic paint, central locking, alloys etc. Perhaps 8-10 items that would all be standard today on the most basic of cars.

I bet there'll be twenty or more options on a new Golf GTI. I think it's where a lot of the money is made these days.

That's whats considered to be a barn find isn't it? So there is a slight chance that the car is under a lot of dust locked away in a garage (thats been forgotten about).

Looking at the reg no, I am guessing it either came from Pattersons, Jennings, Henleys or Davidsons.

My first car was a Fiesta XR2 bought new in 1986. Four optional extras were available and I had them all - Mercury Grey metallic paint, alloy wheels, tinted glass and a glass tilt or remove sunroof. No lecky windows, no central locking etc, etc. I also had the supplying dealer fit a set of rectangular fog lights under the bumper to compliment the standard driving lights above the bumper. Ahhh, the luxury! smile

I thought it was a Tyneside number.

Never heard of them. Guess they are long gone now.

It most probably ended its life stolen and burnt out prematurely back in the 90's, I think that's what happened to 90% of them.
I would take the rotor arm out of mine every time I parked up, but it didn't stop my Xr3 getting the locks slid hammered.
I also had an another couple of xr2's and both had been broken into sometime during there life.
The funny thing is the Gti's I owned never seemed to suffer the same fate, so I guess the ford was more desirable.
