A while back I posted about my fuel pump not turning on occasionally when immobiliser was deactivated and ignition was turned on... Well I think The problem has been rumbled!

The first thing I noticed was that I could get it working again by removing the fuse for the immobiliser - indirectly disconnecting it from the battery and resetting it. Each time I had the problem and did this it worked fine.

a sticky fuel circuit switch in the immobiliser was my prime suspect, however I recently realised that the ecu is in the incorrect place... Just to the right of the pedal box, right next to the immobiliser. (I found the Velcro cover that normally hides the immobiliser under the seat! I have been informed that the ecu could cause electrical interference with the immobiliser. And as I have the problem completely randomly and inconsistently it seems like a viable answer.

I would like to know people thoughts on this, how likely is the ecu to cause interference if it is right ontop of the immobiliser?

Thanks!

I'd assume you could just insulate them from each other rather than trying to move them apart to test if it was the case?

I think you mean screen them from each other. It may be feesable that they are interfering in some way. Be a cheap and easy fix if it is, so I would move them apart.

yes I should have said electromagnetic shielding =)a barrier of aluminium foil between them should suffice as the cheapest/easiest option (ensure it doesn't touch anything electrical of course! =)
