My sky is the same, failed recordings etc, message saying no signal unplug box and wait 5 mins,if it is the box I am cacelling forthwith as last week I had a letter saying it was going up by £2.50 per month, not a great deal but its getting more like repeat tv everyday.

I've noticed the HD channels can have the sound and image out of sync ever so slightly.

Changing channels does nothing to help though!

Is the picture behind the sound or the other way round? If the picture is behind the sound then you can sometimes set a delay in the set top box (if using one and I've no idea about Sky, but my Humax allows this). Also if you have an external amplifier then they often have a delay setting which can help.

Failing that (ie if you are only using the TV speakers) then try turning off the various 'advanced' picture functions: They often cause delays due to extra processing and often make the picture worse anyway (some modes like 'Motion plus' or whatever they call it which add extra frames to the picture). Least delay will be if the TV has a 'Game' mode, though the colours, etc might be a bit lairy so you'll probably have to adjust all the other picture settings to make it look more accurate.

If the picture is ahead of the sound then you're stuffed without a video delay box (if such a thing exists in the domestic TV world)...
