Wrexham to Llangollen, up through the Horseshoe Pass on the B roads to Ruthin Castle. From there to Ffestiniog, the steam railway in Snowdonia or onto Portmeirion for the snazzy Italian houses.

Really - do not bother with Demon Tweeks, you will very likely be disappointed it is a bit pants TBH. Oh and it is near on impossible to find too.

rubbish in what way? i can't get anything i need in dubai so it'll be a shopping trip for a new wheel, gearknob, pedals, plus switches, connectors and try some helmets on. can't think of anywhere else i can do all this who have as big a range as DT.

cheers for the suggestions so far. the OH's car is a 1.2l corsa so no driving road fun [and it'll be her driving, which is scary enough!]. prob. try bala lake and then up the snowdonia railway if it's decent weather.

EVO triangle? Obvious choice is obvious, but it is a very nice part of the world.

Don't forget Betws-y-coed for lunch.

New £30mill link road just opened to Deamon Tweaks. Then onto Llangollen for lunch If you facy coming back the long way (3 hours drive) then continue past Llangollen on the A5 to Snowdon and back along the A55 where you can stop for Fish and Chips at any one of 5 Seaside towns.

Just my opinion mate. Having been a Deamon Tweeks customer since the early days when they were in the village of Tarporley I was quite excited to visit the warehouse shop in Wrexham, especially after looking at the fantastic website which kinda promised so much. Maybe it is just me but I felt a bit let down by the reality of what seeemed like an (albeit nicer) version of Halfords Ripspeed depot. To be sure the staff are nice and knowledgeable but i was a little underwhelmed. Maybe if you have been starved of decent auto-man-store kind of stuff you will feel differently.

Anyway, I suggest you familiarise yourself with the final part of the route through the industrial estate or you could be driving around for ages before you find the place. Also be careful with your speed, N Wales police are hot on speeding and are all over the place with revenue raising traps, oh and it is tourist season too!!!

If you need to make the trip up for your girl then the other posters are right about Portmerion, it is beautiful and could score you a few brownie points if you take her there for the afternoon for a bite to eat and nice walk.

Be sure to update us on your experience there please it would be interesting to hear your opinion.

The power station in Llanberis is surprisingly good if the weather's crap, and the scenic drive round Llandudno is quite nice too.

Snowdon is OK but its a chunk of time and no guarantee on the day you will get a ticket or be able to see anything (rains a lot in Wales). Maybe you can book on line?

Conwy is within reach as is Llandudno. Llangollen is OK for a wander but there is the horse shoe pass above it. Certainly the power station at Dinorwig but my Mrs thought "Meh", man toys.

There is a slate mine that does tours above Blaenau Ffestiniog, Betws-y-Coed is nice. Used to have a motor museum, not sure if it is still there. Bala lake might be an option.
