I am considering buying my old 4.0 RV8 engined Disco back that I sold 6 years ago.
It's generally in good condition but has probably got a dropped liner as it's overheating, hence very reasonable price.
It's also converted to sequential LPG.
Plan is, replace the block with a top hated 5.0 that I have, fit a Typhoon or similar mildish cam, ported heads but retain all the petrol and gas fueling.
This model runs GEMS so I assume ECU wise all will be self adjusting and should run smoothly.
I have cam, followers, timing set and gaskets already so cost would be minimal.
Is this doable, am I missing something.

Go for it Peter, plenty of Discos & RR's about that have 100,000 trouble free LPG miles under their belts.
Actually LPG is better for an engine than petrol in many respects.
Sure, you need to take care of your valves; but no bore wash and a much cleaner combustion process mean your rings last longer & your oil remains effective for longer.
Drop the oil from any LPG engine and you'll see what I mean, strip the engine and you'll find it clean as a whistle.
Gas is the future, you just need to deliver it correctly & get the ignition side right, then it's a perfectly safe fuel.
The problems come with the multitude of lashed up conversions done on a budget by people that don't have the skills or knowledge to do it properly.
These same self appointed experts typically finish off their handiwork by mapping the LPG side badly too.
The result of such a conversion is at best something that doesn't drive very nicely, and at worst can mean good night Vienna for your engine.
But you can achieve all that on petrol too if you don't now what your doing.
A good conversion starts with thorough planning & design, you then need to select quality LPG components that suit the application, finally it should end in some very careful mapping by someone who understands the unique requirements of LPG and the engine they are working with.
Get all this right and it's a safe clean burning fuel that will deliver equal performance to petrol but at virtually half the cost.
Get it bought Peter
