Losing Gears

I've been gradually losing my gears over the course of a few days. First it was fifth and now I've lost reverse and 1st too. I'm guess some rubber bushes have gone as those gears are on the furthest point.

Is this an easy fix?

According to how it looks then NO.
The gear linkage connects to the gearbox by a remote linkage and no doubt that there are bushes in there or it would vibrate badly.
I dont know if they are accessable with the gearbox in but i think i have seen something in the bible about it.

I had a similar experience a few years back, lost gears, turned out the bush between the gear stick and the remote had dropped out. New bush £3.00 and forty mins to fit. This was on an early car (non T5) hope this helps

Thanks for that, mine is also an early box.

Did the gearbox have to be dropped, or can it be done from above?

Was done from the top, just remove centre trim access was fine, no need to drop the box.
