Hi guy,
TVR virgin here...
I picked up my 95 4.0ltr Chimaera a couple of weeks ago and all seemed fine. I got it from a reputable TVR garage. The first time I got it out of the garage for a spin a week later due to our wonderful summer weather I noticed a smell like I can only compare to p**s. Can anybody shed any light on this for me? Do I need to worry and get it back under the car's warranty?
Cheers,
Dave

Check for damp by running your hand over all the carpeted area and lift the foot mats and have a look. Sounds like you have a leak somewhere and have had water sitting in there for a while.

If carpets aren’t damp..... check passenger seat for urine stains ?

Cheers, will be giving it a full check over at the weekend. Was worried cause it isn't a musty smell that you get with wet carpets.

With a bit of luck it might just be a leaky roof seal, but check for leaking brake or clutch fluid, both are in offside wing and there are pipes that run under the dash.
I suggest you do that before you take it out next, just in case. yes

Ok, I'll look there as well. I would have hoped that the garage would have looked at this as part of the full check and prep that I paid for? Thanks for your reply.

You can get this problem with previous elderly drivers!

Is there any special sealant needed for the leaks? I assume I can remove the cover? and reseal it?
Thanks for your reply

I used a gutter sealent ..It cures like a soft rubber , much easier to remove and clean off..(not non curing all weather sealent)

http://www.idealsealants.com/roof-sealant-black-30...

High mod and Stkaflex is nightmare to clean off .This stuff just rubs off with your fingers..

Did you notice the edging on the picture ,not had a problem since .

Best place to go for your sealents is from trade plastic extrusions ..Sofit and facia ,gutter etc.

Under the cover sits the clutch master cylinder, this is where you would top up the clutch fluid. Take your cover off, check the clutch fluid level and top up as necessary, replace and most importantly reseal the cover. If this cover isnt sealed properly, water can get into the interior where the pedals are, and into the drivers footwell.

Darren, just out of Internet, if I press the clutch down and I'm getting a bit of a breeze would the above seal be where that's coming from ? I only noticed as I was wearing shorts for the first time all year the other day !

Normaly the breeze comes from two holes on the right hand side where the body bolts to the chassis .Just lift the carpet on the right hand side and eather use gaffer tape or a very small amount of expanding foam.

Check your screenwash...........

I might not be remembering this exactly right but I seem to recall from a previous car that if you mixed Audi screenwash with Halfords screenwash it created a p*ss smell! It's possible that mixing screenwash brands is your problem rather than damp carpet derived p*ss smell!
