Came out to my car this morning to find this new and unwelcome paint job.

Only car in the street to be done.

What is wrong with people?

I've managed to clean the glass using an ice scraper and the car is currently being seen to by a friendly car wash place. The paint was coming off slowly with a jet wash so fingers crossed it'll be OK.

I'd love to know who did it, but the chances of ever finding that out are slim to none.

Makes me mad that someone thinks he has the right to do this sort of thing.

By the looks of it you are parked on the side of the road - had you inadvertently parked in "someone's space" i.e those sad wkers who think they have every right to park directly outside their house on a residential street?

Sorry to see it fella frown Did you report it to the police? Not sure they can DO anything but at least it is reported then.

For your comment about who thinks they have the right to do such a thing... well the folk who did it would not have thought at all, let alone about rights or anything. Chinless morons who probably think the world owes them a living and someone with an Audi does not deserve it because they can't have it.

yikes That is horrible. Bastids!!!!!!

Years ago came out to find someone had thrown paint stripper over most of the cars in the street. Cost me nearly a grand to fix so a hell of a lot of money in total.

It was a kid on a bike just chucking it randomly but I would still be in prison today if I had caught him myself.

As you say, only your car was done so you were targatted. A scorned neighbour or you've pissed somebody off. Fortunately paint will most likely come off. My neighbour had green paint thrown all over his van, hes installed CCTV since thats come in use on a couple of occations.

To be fair an 8 yr old A3 (even the subtle 3.2) is hardly likely to cause waves of jealousy is it? Coupled with the fact OP says its the only car attacked, I'd say that's personal.

OP - shagged someone's missus recently? Argument with a neighbour? Angry ex?

I've had experience with wkers like this in the past. Went to a friends house one night, me and a friend parked a bit further down the street as it's narrow at the best of times, parked on the curb slightly but left plenty of room for pedestrians to get past. Came out later on that night to go home, drove out of the street and felt the car pull slightly to the left, got out and as my mate pulled in in front of me I noticed he had 2 flat tyres and I also had one... Sadly couldn't prove who it was despite being told this sort of thing had happened before and a lot of people in the street suspected the same person. Simply asking if we could move the cars wouldn't of been a problem they'd have been moved. s like this deserve death. You do not fk with another mans automobile.

The grille will be easier, if need be you could scrape it off and sand down underneath, finishing off with some Back to Black or something.

It's times like these when you wonder how the system can have got so deeply flawed.. I've often said that if I saw someone keying my or a friend's car, I'd break their arm. This is worse.

A couple of things strike me about this situation.

1) Its a half-arsed job. If you wanted to really fk someone's car up, you would just pour paint on it or better still, brake fluid. That's just some household paint that looks like its been flicked or dripped on with an actual paint brush, which is daft.

2) Yours is the only car done in the street. So someone targeted you specifically, that requires some malice. And they set out to cause economic harm and embarrassment.

So, who on this green earth can we think of that would harbour enough malice to want to embarrass you and make you shell out some cash, knows you well enough to go after your car (if you're car fan, this is kicking you where it hurts), but lacks the knowledge or forethought to do a proper job of it?

That's right kids, this is the work of a woman. Of that Im sure. Now, which one and why is something only you can tell us OP.

Yes, it's paint. Not sure what type.

It is parked on the road, but the house it's outside is unoccupied and I've lived here for years with no problems.

Yeah, I've reported it. It'll be filed undetected straight away as there are no known witnesses or CCTV but at least there's a log should this happen again.

A grand? That's awful. I feel for you. I know what you mean about what you'd do if you caught the guy. Unfortunately I'm a police officer so vigilante action is not an option!

Yep, it's targetted all right. One of my neighbours I think. We had words recently over his belief that having a party at 3am is acceptable.

Naturally, I can't prove it's him and there is a chance he has nothing to do with it, but I find that unlikely.

Nicked anyone that "knows you" recently?

Could it be related to a certain other police officer being acquitted yesterday and it's someone having a pop at "a copper"?

I don't work where I live so I would think it highly unlikely on both counts.
