Bernie vows to help Nurburgring keep GP

Ecclestone offers to waive race fee for 2013 German GP

Bernie Ecclestone has thrown his hat in the 'support the Nurburgring' - er - ring, ahead of the German GP this weekend.

Speaking earlier this week to the German press, following the news that the Nurburgring was to call the administrators, Ecclestone said that he would waive his usual race fee for the 2013 German GP and would bear all costs, albeit bear all revenues too. The event is currently shared by the Nurburgring and Hockenheim, with the latter holding the race this year.

"We will do everything that is commercially feasible to keep it (the German GP) on the calendar - hopefully in Hockenheim and the Nurburgring," Ecclestone told German car magazine Auto Bild.

But the Nurburgring could still falter and, should that happen, Ecclestone has said that he could take the 2013 race to Hockenheim. In the longer term, however, it seems unlikely that Hockenheim could take the race on an annual basis, so the German GP could become a biennial affair, alternating with the Belgian GP.

Well done to Bernie.
F1 is lucky to have him at the helm and its good to see him doing yet another good turn and is helping the 'ring out.
Lets hope the love spreads.

The History of the Nürburgring is too strong in the mind of all Motorsport enthusiasts Worldwide and his emotional Fascination is magical for every little
boy or old man.
Few carcompannies mostly from japan make money with limited nürburgring models
and so on.
Carcompanies test his new Stuff on these Track and every knows this will be a great car.
A unbelievable Image.
China and so on can never copy it.(maybe the Track,but it would not be the same]
Its not a new soulless hybrid track like few new build racetracks in Dubai or better
the complete UAE or China,Russia to guarantee a cashflow for the area.
The Nürburgring is "The Racetrack!!" -a synonym for Racing,Cars,Driverheros
Technology and so on.
Without these track we need no really racing in the future,its like a F1 car without
aggressive roaring raceengines.
And it would be really great when Ecclestone would keep the ring for the future.

I think you'll find the Nurburging is China's foremost motorsport venue, with a long fictional history of testing slightly odd looking copies of various European cars.

He always moans about Silverstone because he knows that there has to be a British Grand Prix with two thirds of the teams based here and needing an event to take their sponsors to.

If there was any chance he could switch it with the Grand Prix of Uzbekistan or similar he'd take a similar tack to the one he does with everywhere else.

Because as mentioned briefly further up the page this is a sweetner for the German authorities, a bribe. Which he is well used to dealing with.

As he is being investgated on bribery and corruption charges in Germany. In "saving" the GP he thinks it will give him some sympathy.

What a coincidence.

Only a few weeks after being fingered in a multi-million pound fraud case & awaiting to see if they'll come after him.
