Hello peeps,

The heater valve on our 500 is hunting / oscillating back and forth randomly. It's fine when the car is cold, and the control knob works fine then, but when the car warms through you can just hear it constantly buzzing as it randomly opens and closes a little.

I'm guessing it's either the twiddly button, or the motor on the valve, but is either more likely than the other?

I'd suspect the water valve end. It's possible that a wire has dropped off the potentiometer, or the potentiometer has dropped off.

Typically this happens when the pot gets loose and it's location in relation to the valve has changed then it starts hunting. If it looks ok try squirting a bit of switch cleaner into the pot to clean the carbon track inside.

It's only taken me 5 months to get round to sorting this.... One of the wires had almost completely come off the potentiometer on the valve, easy peasy. Thanks guys.
