Times are tough, and money limited, but it is my wife Sam's 40th at the end of August and I was thinking of having someone look after our little girl and going away for the night.
Really budget is £150 - £200 at a pinch.
As luxurious as possible, within 1 1/2 hours of Oxford. Somewhere off the main stream is fine ( Not Raymonds ) Spa would be good with a pool.

Tortworth Court Four Pillars (the recent home of BTaP) will do dinner, bed and breakfast with full use of the spa plus a 25 minute treatment per person for £238 for two.
If you're not that fussed about the 'spa' element, I'd recommend any of the Hotels du Vin. £200 including dinner should be easily achievable.
