Aerial to a Fin

So my sister has decided her 5 year old Golf looks ugly because it has a big old aerial on the roof

it's ugly but in my opinion pointless to change it, my 8 years old Audi A2 has a hidden aerial somewhere

anyway that women for you

so my question is, how hard is it to change the aerial to a colour coded fin is it just a case of a simple solder and is it something I could do in an hour or so.

I bought one of those fins for a car years ago, it was simple to install.

Just unscrewed the main aerial and the fin had a cable attached to the inside with a screw to put in the stub of the original aerial. You connected that then stuck the fin down over the original stub.

Looked okay, but reception was much worse after that.

Perhaps a more expensive one may be better, but I wasn't impressed.

Doesn't even need to be a fin - you can get aerials that are basically a roll of tape with a wire in the middle, just stick it round the window.
