Discussion
I've been doing quite a bit of 'lurking' on this forum for the past couple of weeks and it's all made for interesting reading. Anyway to get to the point I've made the plunge and today purchased by first TVR. Unfortunately I go on holiday next week so won't be able to pick it up until the beginning of September. I might just be able to wait!
Hopefully I've posted a picture of the car. Some of you may have seen it as it has been advertised on PistonHeads recently. If the picture shows up I will post a few more.

Many thanks to all those who took the time to respond to my post.
The car is a credit to its previous owner who acquired it in 2007. For those who didn't see the advertisement it's a 450 with just under 24,000 on the clock. It's been looked after by Wetherby TVR who put it on a ramp so I could look underneath; the condition is excellent.
It won't be a garage Queen. My previous car was a Morgan Plus 8 which in my 8 years of ownership averaged around 4,500 miles a year and the TVR will do much the same.
And yes, it even surprised me how long it was since I first signed up to PistonHeads! :-)

Nice looking car. Out of interest why did you change from the Morgan?
How does the acceleration of the TVR compare with your Plus 8?
I fancy a Morgan at some stage......

I've owned Morgans for 20 years and enjoyed them a lot. The Plus 8 in standard 3.9 form produces around 190BHP and is quick through the gears up to 60mph. I won't have the Chim until I get back from holiday in 6 weeks but my guess, after only one test drive, is that 0 to 60 times will be similar or slightly slower for the Morgan. After 60 a Morgan has the aerodynamics of a brick so the TVR will always win out. Morgans are an acquired taste so you will either love it or hate it. I've always thought they were a lot of fun!How does the acceleration of the TVR compare with your Plus 8?

The reason for changing is that when my wife retires in a couple of years we will spend most of the summer in France. While you can manage in a Morgan for 6 weeks it becomes less practical for 5 months. There is no boot on a Morgan and little storage space so the Chim will be a little more practical but still give us the chance to enjoy the great roads and scenery in a sports car with a great V8 sound. The best of both worlds! :-) I've done it now because currently Plus 8 second hand prices are very high with a good condition 1997/98 model selling for around £30/32K.
