As per title, if you want some cheap mobil1 then euro car parts are selling for 49.99 but entering code BIGDEAL31 will get you 31% off bringing the total to £34.49 and standard delivery is free.

How much would you save supplying your own oil to an OPC?

Thanks Tezza.

My OPC said they would only do an oil change with oil supplied from them. I was quite surprised by that.

Really some accountant will work out how much they need to make a month to turn a profit and oil is part of that. You then rock up and ask them to loose a chunk of profit by supplying your own oil and wonder why they say no? Don't get me wrong we all want to get something cheaper but if you start trying to shave the margin in one place they will only get it back somewhere else.

Seems to be a fairly common circumstance...................., sadly.

I was surprised because I've heard of others on here who have had their oil changes carried out by their OPC and supplied the oil themselves from Costco.

The tech at Porsche said they used to do it but don't now because they experienced situations where the oil supplied sometimes had the seal on the container broken or damaged and they weren't comfortable with that.

Thats a good price but it would cost me ~£20 in fuel to get to my nearest costco and back.

Kwik Fit will do an oil change for £45.

Now I wouldn't usually trust them to put air in the tyre of my Mountain Bike however there's someone there who I know and trust to do the oil change properly for me.

Mine will use customer supplied oil. Now have 10L of Total 7000 10W/40 from Carrefour for the princely sum of £40, picked up on the way back from Le Mans Classic together with some yummy pastries!

So the secret of getting an OPC to use customer supplied oil is to bribe them with pastries? Might have to try that one biggrin
