people need to put them out to give someone to race.
If you're not putting a car out you cant really moan.
James will be out again, so theres one...
Doesn't seem to me that there's a problem with C, just that many have moved onto B or A.
Not so many newbies coming in due to the recession etc.
Lets face it...we have a strong grid this weekend given the current climate!!!

It is a shame, but all the classes seem to be cyclical... at any one point we've had one of the classes under represented.
The MG series i do some work with have the same, their road going class has varied between 20 and zero over the last couple of years.
We've been over the class structure a million times and your always going to get a gap somewhere so until we're getting 30 cars for every race it will have to stay at 3 classes with some having a greater variance than others.
there are class c cars being prepped it just takes a lot more time than people think.
I would like to see proper road spec 4ltr CHimaeras running Stock engines and a minimum road spec weight limit, but it think its too much of a compromise for a road car, maybe even restrict them to list 1 b rubber and let the sub 3ltr older stuff do anything they like. But im not sure the cars are there.
after the disaster with v8's in C last time i think it would take some very tight regs and a lot of will power to change things.
we need to see how this season goes and hopefully John will consider any changes well before they have to go to the msa.

. AlexWhat is the minimum you would have to do to put a road car on the track? I have a roadworthy catD griff that i could track up so long as it was still suitable for road use aswell.
I guess it needs a cage and harnesses, extinguisher system, suitable wheels and tyres, and??
I would give it a go if i could get it on track for a couple of £k but not if its more like £3-5k?
Any one recently done the maths?
Phil

Pete was there too, he's just finished a convertible Tasmin racer and is about to start on his Race griff.
The Tasmin is for sale!
For road converting...being honest...£4k but that inc ARDS etc

Fire extinguisher :180
Battery cut off ( internal and external) :50 quid with cable
Harness : 180
seat :250
set of slicks :1k but nothing stopping you use list 1b road legal rubber
weld in some seat mounts, cost depends if you can do it.
You could run it on original wheels but that would limit you to smaller tyres. Michael Hamilton has just built his 4 ltr chimaera and fitted 18" tuscan size rims which needs body work chopping...
once your on the track your probably going to want to upgrade front brakes, change dampers, fit the bigger tyres, etc but that can come later..
I would really like to see some road legal road car based racers out there.. and if there was enough they could be classed separetly to plug the class gap.
drop me a line if you like I've been talking to one of the manufacturers about developing a road car conversion kit.
alternatively i think Pete has the green start v8 wedge for around 8k and the ex spink 24v wedge part complete for 3-4

As has been said - Pete has a couple of cars for sale. There is one Tasmin shell (good basic rolling car with cage but little else) up at about £4-500. Then a pretty much done class C Tasmin painted etc. Needs the exhaust finishing (basically some tubing and a silencer, headers are done), the wiring sorting (think most of it is there from memory), and then seat/harness/extinguisher checking and servicing. That is up for about £3k, would cost maybe £1500 to get finished and on the grid inc. a set of tyres (they were about £650 a set for 16 rear 15 front) assuming you can do the work yourself. Lastly he has a 350 wedge convertible with 4.6 V8 that basically needs a harness, data logger and extinguisher service thats up for about £8500.
If you want more info - contact Pete (his details are in the wiki for sale section in here) or PM me for his number.
