Anderson Connector Question

Can you somehow use standard jump leads to connect to the 'female' part of the anderson connector terminals i.e the part fitted to the car in the engine bay - if you have lost the proper leads ?

Jon, I would be very nervous about trying to do this and wouldn't have thought you'd find a set of jump leads small enough to even do it because of the gauge of cable needed for a jump. I know another Tiv owner who wanted to just attach an accumate in a similar way who decided in the end to buy a pre wired connector. Sorry it's not more positive but hope it helps.

Thanks - was thinking the same. If a buy a male adapter maybe I can fashion a fix by making a positive and negative terminals.

I bought myself the male anderson connector from ebay and wired it up to my accumate leads using the worlds supply of solder, but it worked a treat.
Only problem lies in how you seal the jump leads to the terminals of the Anderson plug as they dont crimp.

BTW, Anderson connectors are hermaphroditic, you don't need a "male" and "female", they're all the same.

Also, Demon Tweeks sell a ready wired one with about a metre of cable on it. I bought one of these and put some chunky crocodile clips on the free end for jump-starting my TVR.

The terminals on Anderson connectors do crimp ... but they are for a specific size of cable and need the right crimp tool which isn't cripplingly expensive.

Just buy the connectors off eBay (£3.29) & solder them onto your standard leads. That's what I did & I've had no trouble with mine...
