I wasnt going to post this but my anger has got the better of me....

I have, in the past had a few issues with taking my P&J into my local dealer for any work to be done...

Theres been a few occasions where the car has been there for 2+ days and returned with none or some of the work not done....
One item that the car was dropped in for was to have an Ipod connector fitted at nearly £1000.. I would have thought as there was some money to be earnt on this it would have been done..... But guess what? Still no Ipod
Not to mention car has come back with some minor blemishes on it frown

The last visit prior to my recent visit was to investigate a fuel leak which was dripping fuel directly onto the exhaust.. They failed to find the fault and let me take the car away... Sure enough the car war was still leaking fuel.

The fault I would like to say was picked up and found in under 10 minutes by the guys at Trinity engineering... And then rectified. This fault was due to the fuel pipes in the tank corroding and allowing fuel to flow back to the fuel vapour filter and then dripping onto exhaust.

Bemused by the incompitance of the dealers techs not finding this I left the car in Tims hands to be fixed, I would imagine this would have been covered by my warranty and should not have cost me a penny, but not being happy to take the car back to Reading I paid from my own pocket.
I cannot believe that I was even allowed to take the car away with such a fault? but thamks for letting me drive off in a potential fire bomb!!

So with my recent visit I dropped the car in for some warranty work!!

1,My clear rear lights were to be changed due to condensation build up. 2,folding mirror motor/mechanism not working but was a short while ago.
3,Paint failed & pealing off on wiper arms.

So i get a phone call to say that they will be replacing the rear lights (very kind of them) but will not be repairing the wiper arms or folding mirror?? Apparently they say that the mirror has been damaged, this was based on the fact that there is a very very minor hair strand of a scratch on the painted bit..... Which I know is a total cop out... It was working a few weeks ago and then it failed in front of my eyes... Its never parked on the road and I have never knocked it on anything. The scratch was caused by a zip on a jumper when it was last cleaned...

The wiper arms they say are not covered, but I am certain someone on here has had them replaced under warranty by a dealer???

Not very happy about the bits not being done I went back to collect the car after getting a call from a service manager (who in fact is a really nice guy and exceptionally helpful)
I arrive to pick up the car, inspect the rear lights and I am greeted with what can only be described as a total cock up....

One of the light units doesnt sit flush to the rear quarter panel and where they have removed the centre trim of the lights and stuck it back on, they have left glue all over the lights, the centre trim and the bumper!!
Also in the process they managed to scratch the life out of the painted centre trims.... They have had to send them off for paint!!

I cannot believe that this was allowed to happen, call a customer to pick up a car when obviously ether was inspected by some one with a sight deficiency
after being repaired by edward scissor hands.

Or they just dont give a toss.

Is it any suprise that more of us prefer using an indi for servicing/repairs etc....

I have never dropped my car off at Reading and been happy when picking it up!
Each time I have left my car at Trinity I have never had one gripe or moan.

I think that as of today I will never ever leave my car with them again.
And if i get over there to pick my car up when they call and find it in any other state than perfect I will really kick off!!

Its a shame I have been made to feel like this... It seems that the only nice thing about going to my local main dealer is a nice coffee on arrival and friendly chatting with the sales team. Everything past that is a total dissopointment.

Gripe over!!

Sounds unacceptable - particularly the damage / poor quality of work replacing the rear lights. Worth putting the points in a letter to Aston Martin HQ I'd say.

I know of at least one main dealer chain that monitors this forum and my experience thus far has been one of exemplary service. One of the techs there did say to me that they value good feedback in this and other forums and they know that they have to be as good as they can be or they will loose customers to the independents.

If the Reading dealer is who I think it is then there is at least one other person on PH that I know of who has had shocking service from them.

It is a shame that you have to go to this dealer for warranty work as we only ever hear great things about Trinity.

I used that particular dealer as well for convenience. My car did not go back there. Couldn't even detect a clearly malfunctioning thermostat despite me telling them that it was the thermostat that needed replacing. Also found a lighter in the car when I picked it up. Oh don't worry sir, the techs aren't allowed to smoke in the car. Well don't leave your f*cking lighter in there then!

Well lets hope they start to listen.... As for Trinity, its a shame that warranty work cannot be done there... We tried to get the warranty people to ok the work for my fuel fault but they refused, even though the main dealer failed to sort the problem....

I tried paying a deposit for a new car over the phone only to be told by a "sales manager" sorry "can I take your deposit next week as the dealer is changing hands". Fair point and he agreed to phone me back the following week.

Not a call, nothing! Finally ending up with a dealer 40 miles away I'm now informed the dealer in question is loosing his franchise. So hopefully Darwin's Law of Evolution means they will wither and die. Unfortunately it never happens quickly enough and usually to late to pull things back from the brink.

You could always take a bucket and sponge into the dealer in question and suggest some of their tech guys may be better suited and more successful cleaning cars.yes

a shame to have service that does not match your expectations whatever it is.
as more oft than not we only ever hear of the bad experiences. i can only say that mine differs in that i have only ever had excellent service from my dealer in welwyn who even when i had issues they were very honest and said they didnt have a clue what the problem was but would continue to work on it.
they did.
at no point did my BS detector flow meter kick in.
it is very annoying when it is your local dealer as the alternative now can be a long way away.
hope you get it sorted

On the service vote with you £, they will get the message sooner or later.

One sympathises. I would gladly have my car serviced at the main dealer, but alas the service just doesn't live up to the high prices. As I've posted before my V12V second year service was done by Bamford Rose. Very happy with the service and the price.
Mine has to go back for more warranty work soon... and yet again I'll be wondering how many scratches it will come back with. Maybe I'm being too fussy, but I spend a lot of time and money keeping my paint in as good condition as I can and it really pi**es me off to find holograms and light scratching for either clothing or dirty panel protectors.

I'll get off the soap box now.... Who's next ? biggrin

No offence intended burnout, it was Aston owners reputation for fine manners I was alluding to, I should've inserted the laughing smiley to clarify.

And, no 'provocative history' either, you're confusing me with someone else mikey.

Best of luck with your dealer.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone from Aston came on this forum confirmed that there dealers were there to uphold the highest standards off work consistent with the Aston brand , apologised if they have got it wrong and promised to look in to customer complaints .
oh well you can always dream !! failing which - vote with your feet/tyres

very sad really the one issue that would make me leave Aston is rip off servicing.

I'm just amazed anyone has got the energy to write so much on this topic. From buying the car to getting it errr fixed (and subsequently damaged by the bas**rds). I've honestly given up the will to live. One thing is for sure, I wont be buying another Aston Martin! I hate the dealers!!!

The paint failing on the wiper arms will not be covered on your car - due to its age - its over 3 years old and paint warranty is only for 3 years.
Does sound like st service though.
Recently had mine looked at by a dealer for paint / corrosion issue. Got told it wasn't covered by the corrosion warranty. Spoke to the Service Director and wrote to the DP. Still no joy. Went on a factory tour so got the the customer services guys to look at it. They were the ones to tell me it was a pain defect (known issue) and therefore AM would not make a contribution to the repair as car was 6 years old
So, back to the dealers for a quote for the paint and whilst its there a service, as it was due and I wanted to build a relationship with the service department.
Pick up car after the service - ask where is the quote for the paint repair - get told they are awaiting the bodyshop to come back with a decent price as I am paying for it not AM.
2 weeks later get called for a customer satisfaction review of my recent service - point out the main reason for it going there was for a quote for the paint repair! Woman on phone, mumbles and goes away.
Over a month later, still no quote!
I can only guess they don't want me as a service customer.

Oh and Burntout, I agree - not enough swearing, so I'll give you 3/10! wink
