So I go out this afternoon to clean the car and start hosing it down first as usual, when I get round to the passenger side corner and noticed huge scuff marks around 15cm big going up the corner of the bumper. Black as well so clearly done by a black car. I was at a friends house last night and parked on the main street which curves round to the right. All the cars park on the right so this coincides with the potential impact area. Can only assume someone had parked behind me later (I was there quite a while) and had tried to squeeze past my car without reversing properly and decided to scuff mine.

At the end of the day, it's only probably £100 to fix but I don't have money to throw away. It's just beyond me how ignorant people are with regards to others property. Sorry had to have a little rant to get that off my chest.

The mother has a 12 plate superb estate. My brothers just pointed out a dint with blue paint in the front wheel arch. You can't have anything nice for long

we have had 2 cars wrecked by ignorant halfwits causing damage in car parks and buggering off without saying anything.
Both cars we had only had a matter of weeks in each instance.
first one parked at local supermarket for half an hour, came out and the large black 4x4 parked next to it had disappeared leaving the drivers front wing and door with a 3 foot black scrape and dent/crease - absolutely no way the driver didnt know they had done it.
next one was parked at an industrial estate all day whilst at work, on returning the entire side had been impacted down every panel by a red vehicle which had again buggered off.

I called the police on the first one as the car park had cctv and it was also parked right in front of a bank self service till so thought they would be able to get the offending vehciles reg number - to this day I still believe that they didnt do a thing, as I was told there was no cctv operating..

CCTV is useless half the time. My sister works at ARI in Aberdeen and could actually see a Volvo estate hitting her car from her office window. Unfortunately the CCTV was broken and the car was too far away to read the number plate. She has had hers dinged 3 times each costing around £300 to repair. As for mine, I've just managed to get 75% of it out with my machine polisher, I guess I'll just have to live with it

My wife's car was hit in the school car park and we were pleasantly surprised that the woman had hung around to see us and offer to pay for the damage.

As her car wasn't mint and it was only a scuff we only asked for a small amount towards getting it fixed rather than the £300 it would cost.

CCTV is not useless all the time. Around a month ago I noticed the rear door of my neighbours car was all dented in and scuffed. The next time we see her it was mentioned and she asked if we had a supermarket delivery that night. Well we did as it happened. Had a look through the CCTV footage for that evening and was stunned to see the supermarket delivery man backing down our road (small dead end) like they normally do. .....straight into my neighbours car. He didn't notice and you can clearly see him take the keys out the ignition, grab his clip board off the dash and get half way out the cab, at that point you can see him clock what he's done. He promptly gets back in, starts up, moves forward a few feet and then get out again. What follows is the quickest grocery delivery known to man and a quick off.

I really couldn't believe what I was seeing. At the end of the day it's not his van and surely honesty with both his employer and the victim is the only way to go. I'm sure getting a complaint though head office, backed by multiple angle CCTV video footage is not the way to go........

Why is the CCTV there? We returned from a weekend at Le Mans Moto GP a couple of years ago to find someone had hit my daily driver. It was off the road in front of my garage. It was something like a big van. Neighbours say the lamp post opposite my garage was being worked on. It hadn't been working for months. On our return it was on. In fact it now never goes off, it's on 24/7. I'm guessing he's as bad electrician as he was a driver.....

Someone kindly put a nice dent in my wife's Focus. We think it must have been something big due to the height and the section of bodywork being particularly hard. Even the neighbours Merc ML couldn't have hit where it did.

Reversed out of a driveway once into a car parked opposite dinging the wing so parked up and went and knocked on his door and told him. We're not all sts.

Odd thing was, he got a quote to have it fixed of £200, I said fine, get it done and I'll settle the bill for him ( not worth going through insurance). He was quite happy with that but then never ever got it fixed. Dent was still there years later. Was a reasonable car too. Strange...
