Hi All,

I have been visiting this section for several months now, thought I would say hi as I now am the proud owner of a C63 AMG Coupe (after a very long 5 month wait).

I wont 'bang on' about how brilliant these cars are because you already know.

What I will say is after about a year of evaluating what to replace my Z4M Coupe with, once Mrs 'P' and I drove a C63 AMG at Brooklands test track and had a long road test it really was a no brainer!

It may interest you to know that on balance, given our use requirements, it won us over the following contenders:

Porsche Cayman R - Awesome handling car but too cramped for me (6ft5") and not engaging/challenging enough for what I wanted

Porsche 996 GT3 - Too old/dated interior and too track focussed for what would be 80% road use

Porsche 997 GT3 - Fabulous but still too track focussed and a 5yr old car for £60k+! Hmmm, wasn't convinced I wanted to do that!

Porsche 997 Turbo - Not enough character and not engaging enough to drive, and still lots of £'s for a 4-5yr old car!

BMW M3 Coupe - Too common, not enough torque, great at pace and sound at 7,000+ rpm but how often could I enjoy it up there on the road. Left me a bit cold TBH

Nissan GTR - Wow! What a very rapid car but I want a £60k+ car to feel special & high end, my purchase wasn't just about outright pace...

Aston Martin Vantage V8 - Great sound, didn't like the interior finish, not quick enough and I am not old enough smile

Caterham CSR - Reminded me of racing one! Alas, kit car feel & too compromised for our needs

Audi R8 V8 - Beautiful and quality feel, just about quick enough, surprisingly engaging and very nearly won my custom (until I drove a C63 AMG)

Pics below:
It has Performance Pack, LSD, Privacy Glass, 19" Alloys, Heated Washers

That looks awesome dude - best spec and stunning in red. I have a 2011 saloon with the PPP and LSD and absolutely love it. Also drove the M3 and thought the C63 was the more rewarding car - i don't care if the M3 is quicker on a circuit, for day to day driving the C63 has it licked 'sense of occasion' wise IMO.

GT3 is admittedly something else again, but also much less useable (for 99% of us). C63, for me, has earned it's place on the wall of fame smile

Spot on - I do between 4-6 track days per annum, most of my use is on the road and as you say "sense of occassion" (at any speed) the C63 delivers that in spades! In Fire Opal it certainly has a 'presence' too!

When I track day, it is about fun not ultimate lap times. The C63 does fun better than an M3 IMO smile

I would want to drive a GT3 at over 7/10ths all the time to enjoy it (not good for my licence), I don't have to with the C63 it is such a beautiful car to drive/be in, I even enjoy it sat in traffic (lol)

Oh, and AMG engines have BMW's M engines licked! biggrin (IMO of course) smile

and in the best colour, love mine, 100% agree re the M3 thing, C63 is more about the occasion than lap times!
