Why would anyone want to travel on Monarchs 'ark' like A330 to Orlando is beyond me!!!

What a bunch of s they are.

Firstly, I fly a LOT, many legacy airlines and have had many a good deal over the last few years but the family saw fit to go to Florida for their Hol's and fly with Monarch.

Now, I have previously flown Air Asia X from KL to STN and yes it's no frills but thy also don't rip the arse out you for a drink and the staff are more friendly.

Their first meal on this early morning flight - a yoghurt, a muffin & a small thimble of orange juice served in a small box!!! It's comes with a knife & fork FFS so I guessed there was a hot meal on the way!!!! No, I guessed wrong, totally pathetic to say the least.

Then when I enquired about their rather sorry excuse for breakfast, the reply was, "Oh, we have toasted sandwiches on the go, that'll be £4 please"
Their once again sorry excuse for a toasted sandwich was a half cooked sparsely prepped cheese toasty, I couldn't find the Cheese!!!!, possibly about 25p to make, package and errrr..... Cook!

Their inboard prices for a long haul flight really do the the P1ss.....

The cabin crew didn't even appear to be very happy either, what a bunnch of miserable biatches!!!!

And don't get me started on the 90's style on board enterinment, TV's in the overhead, poorly spaced and the only on demand was when someone wanted earphones at a demand of £2.50 a pop. 2 films or the whole flight.

Monarch you suck to the highest degree and then some

It's cheaper & far better to fly long haul legacy airlines to the far east!!!

Charter operator/budget airline in poor service shocker.

They are mostly poor, why anyone would fly with any of them is beyond me, long haul especially. They are generally about the same as most US carriers.

Having said that the last time I flew with Monarch, about 3 yrs back they were fine plenty of space, ended up with free booze as they couldn't get their card machine to work!

My GF worked for both Monarch & Easyjet, gives an interesting insight into the mentality of the low cost/charter airlines!

I flew on Monarch's A330 from Faro last year, and that was long enough!

What really grated was that as a family of 4 checking in 2 hours early (2 year old and 4 year old kids at the time), they couldn't sit us together. They don't offer online checkin, so I still don't understand how that happened!

I used that airline a number of years ago for a trip to Orlando and even back then their planes were dated and poor, wouldnt even consider them now even if they were half the price. I could live with their service if it was cheap for a quick trip somewhere in Europe but not a trans alantic flight.

Look on the bright side.

When GF used to fly the route they ran 757's, had to stop in Maine, refuel & go on from there!

I thought everyone on PH travelled at least Club Class, obviously not counting those with their own private jets.

Not Monarch, but First Choice to Orlando 3 years ago. Complete contrast. Good seat pitch, seat back IFE, decent food.

Learnt my lesson going to Vegas on a Airtours 767. Still "Seated" for European Long haul it was excruciating. Everything was Geared to shorter flights. Entertainment was rubbish and the meal while free was limited. It seems that they ran a better equipped Airbus at "busier" times but as we went in November we got the "crappier" option. Next trip to the States was on a Virgin Airbus with multi channel entertainment and much better food.

But you get a return flight for £149 then.... That wouldn't cover the tax today. They used to refuel in Gander too, nice local ice cream there!!!

I couldn't remember who it was, but that sounds the same as our last charter to Orlando. Cou;dn't complain about it.

They were selling upgrades to 'premium' on the way back for $99 which we jumped at and that was great (and the drinks were free there!) - cabin was about half-full.

Flew Virgin PE on their new Airbus a few months ago and it was crap - stupidly hot but the crew argued and aaid it was cold! Food was diabolical, with one main and one veggie choice. Staff seemed pissed and scowled at anyone who wanted to use the forward toilet, interupting their chatting.

You won't, because they will constantly peddle duty free and drinks to make money when you are "supposed" to be sleeping.
I advise earplugs, travel pillow, bottle of vodka

Monarch's A330 was grand on our trip to Calgary a few years back. It certainly beat the pants off BA's 767 operating on the same route.
