my car vandalised
Discussion
Possibly more to the story though. Last week I had returned home after picking my daugher up from nursery, and left my car unlocked (on my driveway) as I had to carry loads of stuff into the house along with my daughter. I left it unlocked cos I still needed to go back out and get her nursery bag.
Anyway as life happens, I didn't go back out, (it wasn't urgent), and 20 mins later purely by chance I glanced out the window & saw some scrote crouched by the side of my car, passenger door open, hands in the glovebox going through my stuff!! (satnav was in there)

I legged it outside (in my socks! - no time for shoes) and confronted the motherf
ker. He fell into the bushes (can't go into any detail). I then ranted at him about nicking peoples stuff and what a low-life he was, is it worth it getting 10 quid for stealing peoples things etc. Anyway my neighbour came out while on the phone to 999 reporting the crime in progress. I was intending on keeping the scummer there until police turned up - he was kind of cornered with me in the way of his escape route. Of course at one point I turned round to say something to the neighbour, and at that point said scrote jumped over the (waist-height) fence and ran off.
Police didn't find him in the area despite description and looking for him etc (turned up quickly). Anyway, one of the things that went through my mind at the time of confrontation was that I considered giving him a good pasting. Seriously. The thing that prevented me and ran through my mind (other than the reasonable force law
) was the threat of repercussions to my property, and primarily the fact I have a missus and young daughter. (I'm thinking of those complete cowards that pour petrol through someones letterbox in the middle of the night). So, I didn't and that was that.
Of course missus was worried when she came home about repercussions etc anyway, and I reassured her.
Well, Saturday night someone kicked (or however) my passenger side wingmirror off. It's aluminium inside so not easy to break.
The thing that's annoying is it could just be coincidence, and some general lowlifes that have done it (it was parked on the street this time), or it could be the same scrote came back for 'revenge'. In which case I wish I had pounded his f
king lights out.

This is what really f
ks me off about our current "respect" culture. You csatch someone on your property about to steal from you, you corner them and have the restraint to not kick the s
t out of them but somehow your in the wrong and they see revenge as a valid action
Why? They did wrong ffs, I swear that in the minds of these
s is a mechanism that makes them think its ok to steal or vandalise and if you don't allow them to do so your the one that's wrong.
I'd have battered him senseless but I really respect you for not doing so.

Kick him in the face with the same force that he applied to kick off your mirror next time you see him.
Of course you can't really do this. You need to report to the plod and watch nothing happen as a result. I have maximum respect for the police in this country but you only have to watch some of the programs on TV where at the end they tell you what happened to the offenders you just spent the last hour watching. Usually nothing as there is not enough evidence.
I REALLY feel for your predicament and hope that you manage to serve some form of justice on the little s
tbag.

There were two scrotes outside our local shop, I parked my expensive bike there and their eyes lit up, they looked cretfallen when I locked it, there was no doubt they were going to take it, there seems to be no boundary for them to cross to take the decision, stealing peoples stuff has already been mentally pre-approved and they are always on the look out, no guilt and no fear, I think a kicking is required but sadly the law is weighted against the victim.

It's the system as well, and maybe they've learnt from that. I had lead nicked off my roof twice, if I had put razor wire up there or something, and they injured themselves I'd probably get sued or arrested for causing them harm.

If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

I've no idea what it is about the scrotes in that neck of the woods (I'm from Wealdstone) but numerous mirrors and aerials were smashed on my brother's and my cars over the years. Always mindless and with the exception of an aerial nothing stolen. That aerial annoyingly would have unscrewed. They chose to rip it off and warp the roof
It's a pain in the arse and I feel for you. At least it's a common car so a secondhand mirror should be easy enough.

years ago a mate of mine had his mark2 escort broken into, alarm went off and he looked out of his bedroom window to see two blokes running off his stereo, he put on a pair of trainers, and chased one of them.
in the mean time his girl friend had called the police, who arrived quickly and were on the chase, they caught one guy, and my mate by then had caught the other.
Unluckly for the thief my mate was a PT instructor and boxed for the RAF, so he quite happly dished out a few knuckle sandwich'es. The police pulled up saw what was happening then drove around the block for 5 minutes before coming back to cart the blooded thief away
