Is it worth remapping an E92 M3?
Discussion
Hi, had an evolve tune done on my E92.. my main thing was removing the cold start cycle as I have an Eisenmann Race Exhaust... (a very expensive route to it) but the car feels so much stronger too... pulls much stronger especially after 5k revs.... where as before it was like "WOW".. now its like "holy f*ck".. and gettting about 2 more MPG out of it.. the tune also "seems" to downshift & upshift better / more reliaby for my driving style.. which is great with the ER exhaust as its so tuneful!
all in all I am very happy with it... but without the cold start cycle removal... I probably wouldnt have bothered

As above. DMS claim up to over 440bhp, but is that realistic? Any other gains such as economy etc? Would be interested in hearing opinions, especially if any of you have had it done!
I would be very surprised if you could get that power by a remap alone. Especially as the M3 GTS has a bored out engine to 4.4, full Akrapovic exhaust and god knows what else to achieve similar power. I believe the biggest barrier to increasing performance of the E9x M3 is the stock exhaust & primary/secondary cats which are restrictive. Well after this came up last time (albeit regarding the E46 M3) I promised myself I'd stay quiet over the claimed gains to be had by remapping (standard normally aspirated cars).
My personal belief is that it's mostly snake oil. More performance yet better economy? Doesn't that raise a few eyebrows?

true. also makes you wonder if it was so simple to do, why wouldn't BMW do it, if it was a reliable, easy way to improve performance AND economy? My personal belief is that it's mostly snake oil. More performance yet better economy? Doesn't that raise a few eyebrows?
