Buying Porsche from garage with Porsche warranty
Discussion
Have made an offer on a 911 from an independent garage. The car has an existing approved Porsche warranty but the paperwork is with the car. My local dealer have confirmed the car has a year's warranty remaining, but that this is not transferable if the car is bought from a garage.
Is this true? How would they know?
Also, they mentioned that I need to complete the warranty card but it's not present. Should my alarm bells be ringing?
Thanks

I think I mentioned this in another of your threads; if a Porsche with an Extended Porsche Warranty is sold from a Dealer, the warranty is not transferable.
Only way around it, is if the dealer is selling it SOR, and therefore could be classed as a private sale. If it's a private sale, the extended warranty can be transferred.
How Porsche might find out is anyones guess; I once sold a 993 via a Dealer on a SOR basis, and Porsche rang me up when the new owner asked to transfer the warranty to confirm it was a private sale.

Yes, thanks. It was you that opened my eyes to it. I was trying to work out if this is a real risk; sounds like it is.Only way around it, is if the dealer is selling it SOR, and therefore could be classed as a private sale. If it's a private sale, the extended warranty can be transferred.
