I'm in Liverpool. Planning on taking our labrador anywhere within reason, upto an hour and a half away.
Is it sensible with the the temperature potentially reaching 24oC today?
In all honestly we have took him for walks before when it's been nice weather, but he's panted, tongue out. We've combatted this with keeping him hydrated at all times.

So anywhere in the North West?
I could venture far as the lake district or into Wales aslong as that's sensible with him in the back of the car (no tints or blinds, keep the window open though)
Got from 09:00 to pretty much 18:00 to go somewhere and make a day of it.
Once again is it too long for a dog? Do they enjoy a long day on the move and is it ideal in this heat?

the best places would be forest type walks, more shade for the dog.

Macclesfield forest comes to mind, there must be others.

If a dog has no problem with trasvelling and is fairly easy going about new environments then travelling itself not the issue.

However keeping your dog cool on a day like this is, so definitely agree with wooded walks and maybe areas by the sea where there is a breeze usually, however wooded walks 1st choice. Lots of water of time for rest.

Also consider your car, Will your dog be in the boot (hatchback) I see so many dogs cramped in the back only front windows of car open and sun beaming in through the back window, really not ideal. So ensure you can keep your dog cool in the car whilst travelling. Even with ait conditioning the sun will still beam through onto the dog in a hatchback.

If you can cover these then you'll have a lovely day. I don't know the North West well enough but I'm sure if you google dog walks in the North West something will come up smile

Head to the Wirral. Thurstaston has wooded bits, and there'll be plenty of puddles to roll in/slurp from.

Wirral boasts four out of the five ‘recommended’ North West beaches named in the 2012 Good Beach Guide.

http://www.visitwirral.com/year-of-coast-and-count...

There's also North Wirral Coastal Park.

I quite like it at West Kirby. Not to far from Liverpool get him on the beech and he can cool off in the sea.

Yeah thats nice i only live down the road go a fair bit.

Just watch your car if you do go dont leave anything in it. Its a bit of a hot spot for theft. Park in the proper car park you should be fine.

Ainsdale Beach, Arnside and Silverdale on Morecambe Bay or Dunsop Bridge in the Trough of Bowland or the West Pennine Moors between Horwich and Chorley. There's also Holcombe Moor outside Bury where they use to film contestants trying to complete the assault course on the Krypton Factor. There are so many places you can take dogs and let them have a good run.

Sorry, bit late to the party (again) but when I was staying in either Maghull or Ashton in Makerfield I'd head up to Rivington Pike/Winter Hill, above Bolton. The view from the tower is a bit special and a walk through the fascinating remains of Lord Lever's estate is a great way to pass the time. Or burn off a hangover.

If I was half was competent with a computer I'd post some pice but this'll do in the meantime:

Many happy hours spent there with the hounds smile
