Had to share this with you all:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18910560

Really impressive and moving story. I find it incredible to see the same car in so many different locations, and even more so that the same car has survived all that largely intact. In some ways a very good advertisement for the car.

I tip my hat to you, sir.

80,000km? 50,000 miles in 23 years? Hardly run in?

Sorry, I was winding. smile Beeb's slideshow is broken for me, gets a few seconds in and buffers, despite 20Mb internet. frown

but hes missed out on so much

getting up early, commuting to work, the tedium of work, commuting home, paying bills, sleep - repeat until dead

Quite alright - and I find BBC slideshows can be temperamental at times too.

What an amazing story. I really enjoyed that and I just hope he's kept a 'secret' diary of some description otherwise all his stories will be lost forever.

Such a shame about his wife - I hope he keeps going!

An amazing guy and an amazing car.
And much better ad for the Mercedes brand than if he'd accepted the sponsorship and switched to a Bling-Wagen (which probably would've broken down in between being stolen on every continent).
And also: Old fashioned film photos are better than digital. The end!!
