I've looked over the other posts in the past but haven't really found an answer to this.

In your opinion as a professional parent/guardian and Cerbera owner, what is the minimum age for kids to use the back seats without a special child seat ? And - Can they see out the windows ?

Booster cusions or seatbelt adjusters I could handle but I'm not going to mess around lugging kiddie seats in and out (if/when I get one)

Currently my eldest is 3.5 years and his little brov is 2 - so can I have one now or do I need to wait....?

Cheers

Depends on how big your two year old is. Personnally, I'd wait till he was around three and stick him on a booster cushion.

As for looking out of the windows, the only good view anyone has in the back is through the front window and they should be fine.

Where in the UK are you, maybe you could ask a Cerbera owner to try them in at a club meet - I wouldn't mind if your around Newcastle.

The best source of advice is the In-car safety centre near Milton Keynes.

My three year old fitted nicely in at age two. Needed a seatbelt adjuster but no booster required

Previously, I would have agreed with you as I've used them with both kids and both 'regular' cars in the past, but they were completely un-interested when we went along in the Cerbera, and no help at all, which I was really disappointed with. I would go so far as to say they were rude too.

I thoroughly recommend these people for advice when getting a seat for your Vauxhall/Peugeot/Ford etc but for us it was a wasted trip with the TVR.

Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day, I hope so, as previously I couldn't fault them.

In answer to the original question, in my opinion, my 2 year old needs a seat (and he's quite big for his age). My 3.5 year old is fine with a seat belt adjuster, and would probably be too uncomfortable if I tried to squeeze him into a seat.

Lots of previous threads on this subject so try a search, but if you can't find what you're looking for feel free to drop me a mail

Thanks for your comments.

I guess I'll have to go back to my first choice of a Griff (ha ha ha ! convertible baby yeah) until my beloved sons are old enough for a Cerbera. Not sure when I'll actually get to drive it though! There'll probably be accusations of abandoning my family.

The Milton Keynes place is good if your new to child seats. I went there for my first childs rear seat. They fit the seat for you which is good to see as child seats can be almost useless if they are not fitted properly.

When you turned up with the Cerbera perhaps they had a less than favourable opinion of your choice of transport. Running childeren round in a racing car - whatever next

INITIALLY, I got lucky with my Cerb. My son, Louis, was 2.5 years at the time I bought it. He was too big for a rear-facing baby seat, but far too small for the normal car seat.

My step-mum Pat, who's a dab-hand with the needle and thread, made him a custom booster seat for the driver's side back seat so that he could look out of the window without the seat belt chafing at his neck.

Pat made it out of special cloth with pictures of trains all over it. He's 5 now and he still prefers his train cushion to the bare leather! "Dad, can we go in the loud, smelly car with my train seat?!?" he says.

Only problem now is that my 10-year-old daughter Yasmin is moaning about the lack of room on the other side! I said to her "well, Yas, maybe I ought to chop you off at the knees to make sure you can still fit in The Beast."

"DAAAD!! You're not funny, just buy a Range Rover with DVD screens in the back of the seats! All my friends have got one."

"Oh, right...."

HI All
Hi have a small 2.5yr old girl would will not sit in a child seat. She fits fine in the back if she sits on a pillow. I took her and the wife to the New Forrest the other week for the first hour the wife asked every 3 minutes "is she ok in the back" she was fast a sleep in a hour.
