Vauxhall Astra H 1.8 Design

Hello Everyone,
Although a tad delayed I thought I would put up pictures of my current car. Its a 2005 Vauxhall Astra Design model, with the addtional XP pack fitted. Its not going to set the world alight with the all powerful 1.8 125BHP engine fitted, but its fine around town and gets half decent 36MPG which is not bad for short runs.
I purchased the car in Jan 09 after my Peugeot 206 GTI was picking up lots of electrical faults, so took the hit and used it as trade in against the Astra. I know they get some bad press from other members, but in the 3 years i have had the car nothing has gone wrong, and only had to fork out on servicing, tyres and new brake pads so not bad at all.
I personally think it looks good in black, and as its the Design model, so gets a few toys like DAB, CD Autochanger, Auto lights, Auto wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, half leather.
With a recent promotion at work and a bit more money each month im looking to sell this in the next few months and get something a bit more fun. Unsure on the exact car but looking at a E36/46 Convertible or A4 Convertible.

No idea why they get a bad reputation on here. I had an SRi CDTi, in 3 years and 60k the only thing to ever go wrong was the EGR valve got clogged up, I took it off, cleaned it, refit and it was fine! I dont think that's bad going considering the abuse it got. My only other complaint was uncomfy seats on long journeys.

hate you..my car looks almost identical to that but rarely gives me more than 18mpg!

On the exhuast im not sure. It was on the car when I purchased it, but it doesn't sound aftermarket. Its not the VXR one as that is much larger, and central to the car rather than the left hand side.

Dad had the 150 CDTi and my neigbour now has a 1.8 SRi, they're nice cars, but they feel very big to drive - probably cos they are quite big!
Does yours have the all-important sport button?
Parking at first wasn't easy as the rear visabilty is poor but once you get used to its fine. I live in a block of flats with underground parking and lots of walls and pillars so get lots or practise. Does yours have the all-important sport button?
Yep it has the sport button. It does quicken up the throttle, and tighten the steering which is good. Ruins the ride though, and any bump feels like it could break your back.

I can promise you it does. If we had lovely flat smooth roads then it would be fine. With the state of some of the local roads near me its not worth it. Plus running on low profile tyres on 18" wheels can get quite jerky on poor surfaces. I normally dont bother turning it on.
Pretty sure it doesn't change the suspension/ride at all?

It certainly feels firm on mine once the button has been presed. Stiffens the dampers apparently if you have IDS+ CDC (Interactive Driving System+ Continuous Damping Control) on your car. Challo said:
