I pointed a couple of folk who had shown interest in S's (what is the plural !?) in my build thread to the two V8s in the classifieds. One pointed out the weird gearstick position in the following picture :



His conclusion was that it was knackered. Rather than leave it there - what's the explanation ? Does look strange ...

Don`t forget that this isn`t a standard V8S, it has had a few alterations, could be worth mailing the owner to find out what gearbox is fitted, failing that it could just be left in gear.

It must be in 3rd or 5th, no room to select any other gears from that position if its in neutral!!

V8 has same arrangement as V6 I think where there is an extension piece to bring the gear lever forward a bit. That could be altered to make the lever be at any angle you want although if that is in 3rd or 5th you will be pretty much lifting it to select even numbered gears.

yes LT77 and yes; left in gear. A habit I've had for years following a hand brake failure (& not in a TVR!)biggrin

It doesn't matter what angle the gear stick approaches the knob - it's the relative position of the knob to the pivot point that determines the arc of the knob travel.

(Too many knobs in that sentence - sorry)
