Currently on the look out for an Audi A2.

Spotted this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Asked:

Hello,
Please can you provide details of the service history and any additional works carried out?

Can you confirm the make and model of the tyres and how much tread remains.

Can you please detail any advisory notices from the last MOT

Thanks,

Bonus - it saves you wasting time looking at a car which has been abused by a meathead.

It's just a shame he couldn't have put that in the ad.

Tyre brand question might be a little much for a 10 year old car being flogged privately, but overall - not unreasonable at all.

I avoid any adverts WRITTEN IN CAPITALS as it usually means the person is a twonk.

Seller also states no tax as it's on disabled? benefit fraud maybe?

One of the questions is "How much will you take?" and he has answered £2700. As it's an auction with no reserve, what's the bet that if it doesn't reach this figure, he wont sell it and will re-list?

Not when he's asking best part of £3K for it.

If you want to sell, be helpful!

I had a similar experience when trying to buy a series Land Rover recently.

I've noticed that its still for sale on Ebay several months later.

This. Also answered all the questions in capitals too. Comes across like a right knob.

Thats not unreasonable to ask.

I'm watching a car on Ebay at the moment and lets just say the seller didn't recieve this question too well:

Q: do you want 3500.00 for this tonight
A: mate have you been knocking back your mothers titty milk again. you need to lay of it because it causeing you to say and do silly things

biggrin

If he's selling a £100k Ferrari I'd be tempted to agree with him but that's probably not the case hehe

Worst case scenario is finding your dream car that ticks all the boxes and the seller is a total prat... you wish you could tell him to stick his car where the sun doesn't shine, but you know you'd be shooting yourself in the foot! Has happened to be before.

Q: What exactly do you have in the way of service history? Full receipts? Stamps only? Part? Cheers
A: THE SERVICE HISTORY LEICESTER AUDI 22/01/05 REG VARDY- AUDI 6/3/07 ARIES MOTOR CO AUDI 03/04/07 COLDI MOTORS 11/06/10 MILEAGE CAN BE CHECK WITH VOSE DOCUMENT REFERENCE NUMBER: 1285 506 2001

Is what I find interesting.

an 03 car, serviced in 2005, not in 2006, twice in 2007, one month apart, then not till 2010 and then not in the last 2 years.

I think you dodged a bullet there OP.

Its easily worth twice the offer he received, a very nice E46 330, but the seller is letting it run to the highest bidder, but of course it is advertised elsewhere so can (read - will) be removed at anytime!
Lets just say no way in this world would it have been removed from auction for 3500.

yes

That and anyone who asks a lot of questions probably has a serious interest in buying the car. Someone who messages 'Hi m8, will u take £500 for the car?' probably isn't even going to turn up for the viewing.
