Cigarette lighter has just popped out which means I have no power for my SatNav and I'm embarking on a Looooong road trip tomorrow.

Anyone know if there's a simple way to get the centre, lower facia out - You know, the one that holds The Key that should NEVER be touched ??

Do you have an ashtray? If so you may be able to repair it without removing stuff. The fag lighter is in two bits which screw together - I would guess the back has fallen off. Pull out ashtray and put your ladylike fingers into the hole and see if you can get the back, use the wires to help. Then you need to disconnect the battery before holding the rear part vaguely in place and screw the front part into it. A pair of pliers inside, pulled apart, is a good way to get a hold of the front bit and turn it. Then you tighten it until the plastic surround cracks and you're good to go. Did that 5 years ago and my lighter hasn't budged since

Ashtray out (and broken - still it gives me the excuse to get an alloy one from Leven)and parts reconnected. The main bugger was trying to reconnect the power supply cable which had come off. Still once I'd re-broken the first meta-carpels in my index and middle fingers the the job was a good 'un.

While you are having those broken fingers seen to - ask if they can install universal joints instead of hinges - makes life a lot easier.
