I was wondering how the griffith chassis compares with the tuscan racer chassis. Someone told me they are quite similar. But where exactly are the differences.Which shocks do they use. Etc. Been owning the griff for several years and still ask myself the question why they do not handle the way they are supposed to. Like a ferrari by example. Basic lay out seems to be ok. I presume handling of tuscan racers is very good. So to keep it short why can't my griff handle like a tuscan racer?

Because it is a road car and the suspension compromises are made for comfort and predictability. On a Tuscan racer they are made for performance performance and performance.

The Griff doesn't have a very expensive Ohlins shock system or rose jointing. It is also about 250KG heavier and doesn't run on slicks. The Tuscan uses stiff suspension settings to control suspension movement of which there is very little. The suspension geometry is set up for 10/10ths racing and nothing else.

Yes they are similar in that they have unequal wishbone suspension in all four corners but after that very very different animals.

Thanx for the reply. Asked it yesterday on this forum and got one reply. Was about the rose joints. I am going to get them Intrax is going to modify my shocks because i have too much movement. Because of the allready very little suspension movement the wear of silent blocks destroys the handling of the car.Handling must improve. Rode my brother competion daytona today ferrari 365 gtb4 Daytona (bit like the Thompson car of P. Knapfield but my brothers car is 5000 cc wheelspin everywhere) also with rose joints. Because i was afraid of very uncomfortable drive. But as my brother told me it can be done only some noice on bad roads. If after the rose joints handling does not improve to expected standards my brother is thinking of strengthening (perhaps wrong word from the Netherlands) the wishbones to make them stiffer. So perhaps some suggestions from you steve or green V8s. Tanks.

Don't compare a competition car to a road car and expect the same. My wedge complete with Cortina Mk4 suspension(not joking) will out handle most TVRs on a good circuit but the compromise is that it will not cope with bumpy roads as it simply bounces around. It is now a competition car and all the compromises have been for performance. The ride is very harsh and stiff and without the roll cage and other things I have done to the car to stiffen the chassis, it would not be very good.

I also have a 98 Griff that has an absolutely standard suspension. It copes with 300 bhp quite happily even though it feels like a diesel compared to the 520. Does it handle like a Ferrari. No. But it doesn't cost anywhere near as much and the power and acceleration makes up for it. Griffs in particular are point and squirt. Get through the corner and squirt the power. Totally different driving technique to a Ferrari or Lotus Elise for example that will take speed through a corner but don't have the same grunt.
