cycling in andalucia

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I'm interested in flying down for a week in Sept/Oct so my main questions are:
- Where is best to fly into (i.e. allows for a decent airline which I can take my bike box on)?
- Any particularly good roads/areas I should cover?

Having done a little googling my provisional plan is:

- fly into Granada
- find a place to store my bike box for a week
- Cycle from Granada to Seville (~230 to 330 miles) over the course of 6 days which is around 55 miles a day.
- One way-point of Malaga, the other nights will be ad hoc
- Once I get to Seville, hire a car and drive back to Granada, pick up box and fly home

So now I just need to figure out a good route... So if anyone has any suggestions they are most welcome.

its a long way to go to cycle 55 miles a day.... I appreciate its not flat but even so that shouldnt take much more than 4 hours.

personally, i'd find a cycle tour holiday company who can deal with all the faff, accomodation, storage, food etc etc and you also get the benefit of a guide who knows the local area.

Not cycled out there but know the area quite well as we have Villa in Mijas Costa area.

Some fantastic roads ,virtually anywhere but road down to coast from Ronda is wide and very twisty...should be a great descent!

I don't really want to do massive miles though - i'd like to leave time each day to explore and relax. The other option is that I actually take a day or two off and then throw in a couple of 100 miler days..

I've just discovered that there's only one direct flight to seville/granada/almeria and that's with F****** Ryanair. bks to that. Really annoying as that region really appeals in terms of aesthetics and culture. I may just have to suck it up and go with those scabby gits.

Update - flights booked. Gatwick to Malaga and back with BA over the first week of Sept. No I need to investigate a 6 day route..

It's on road, a couple of places i've spoken to only offer a 'package deal' which involves being guided and having your luggage carted from hotel to hotel.

I would prefer to be on my own and i'm not taking anything more than a small rucksack worth of stuff. All i need is some routes - i offered to pay for some route advice and maps but no-one seems interested in that.
