Worrying tapping sound...help!

I have a tapping sound coming from nearside back piston, seems to be on the stroke, I've taken the plug lead off and it stops! (not a long term solution!)the service report mentions a small leak on the gasket on the same piston, however the tapping start coming back from Silverstone. It doesnt sound like its blowing.

Exhaust manifold gasket? If it stops when you remove the lead maybe thats the one.

I'd get a set plus Nordlock washers and ARP bolts - ACT do the whole lot as a kit. About £50+VAT i think.

out of interest, what's special about ARP bolts?

Less frustrating to get a socket on and off in the small space between head, manifold runners, bodywork and assorted other items. Therefore, also easier to torque properly instead of swearing, chafing of skin and puffing until the last visible turn of thread finally disappears into the cylinder head, the bolt head is rounded and you think 'OK, that must do.' .

Might well save a fair bit of time and frustration.
