I have just had a mate mail me as he knew that I was buying a 2006 T350C.
He has been on Parkers etc and says that the retail price is no more than £17k with p/x down around £13k!!!!!!!!!!
I have been looking for ages and have come no where near that retail price either private or dealership. A couple with 14k miles on 06 plates are on at just over £30K. A few on 53/04 are on at between £22k - £24k.
What is going on?
I assume it's because it's a specialist market and they don't really have a handle on it.
I am paying £27k for an absolute mint car on 24k miles from a good dealer - any thoughts am I paying too much?
Cheers
Steve

You're right. Your mate is wrong. Tell him to find you a car at the price he quotes.

I was in the motor trade for a year 20+ years ago even then Parkers was s**t , if the proper trade guides have TVR in they will still be wrong its a very limited market and T car pricing is a mystery even to those who follow it . Is your mate trying to put you off , has he told you how often it will break down . 2006 is a late car so if its good expect to pay top money .

Yes it belonged to a PH who traded it in against an Aston Martin a couple of months ago.
It's not had a re build but has been very well looked after by the previous owner and is in stunning condition.
Thanks for the re assurance.

If it's any help my car was independantly valued by a 3rd party insurance assessor (was rear ended a few months ago) and they put a market value of £24'950 on it pre accident, thats a 54 plate 350t.

Prices on pistonheads increased over the last years significantly. In 2010 several 2003 cars were offered between 17-20k (private, dealer). Since than the prices went to 20-25k, later cars up to 30k.

I guess prices will keep going up. These cars will always be beautiful and desirable and they will keep getting rarer.

But note that the 30k cars are not selling. 18-25k cars sell quickly.

Check the engine build because I bought a 06 plate T350C for 23k GBP (with 24,500 miles on the clock) in June this year, but in actual fact; it was built in February 2005. I'm told there was only 1 T350 built in 2006 and 45 built in 2005, 100-200+ in 2004 and so on...

I'm never one to say how much any car is worth, they're only worth what ever people are willing to pay for them.

Engine number. Also get the build number, it is marked on nearly every piece of trim and on the badge in the engine bay (last 4 digits).

Some photos of the car interior will probably give some of us a clue too - minor changes occurred throughout the T350's life.

Many cars languished at dealers for a while before selling, some shot out of showrooms. Mine was built in April 2004, I bought it in May 2004 from a dealer showrom. The same dealer then got a nice Halcyon Midas T350C in stock, this didn't sell for a while and is now owned by a mate and is on a 55 plate - but in reality is only a few months newer than my early 04 plate car.

however, don't fret about the build date. There are not many examples to choose from and you should buy on 1. Condition and 2. History.

Look at the chassis plate in the boot. The 5B00???? means 2005, (or 2006 if it had been a 6)Blackpool and the rest is its build number. Then look at the engine number, it will say 0105 for the first week in 2005 and so on.

Thanks guys - I will do that before I hand over my dosh and Porka!
One of the thread respondents says that he paid £23k in June for the same year car! I am paying £27k for the same year and miles. It's from a dealer and he has been great to deal with so far. The car has just had a new MOT put on it and had advisories on three tyres.
He phoned me and said that if would like to pay for one he would then pay for the other three as he thought that they should all at least have the same tread profile. He could easily said nothing and I would have had a hefty bill in the very near future. I'm just surprised that the price varies so much for the same year plate!
I don't really care that much as I'm happy with the price and p/x after weeks of searching it was by far the best I have seen and other cars have been within a similar price range from dealers. I would not buy private as I lack the knowledge that you all have.
By the way I think that the PH TVR forum is by far the most helpful and positive that I have joined - it's been a great help in my purchase of such an Iconic brand.
Regards and thanks once again.

Thing is these cars are very rare (around 100ts and 250 cs at a guess still on the road and thats aiming high) so they sell based on condition not plate. There are a lot of dogs out there, ask any of the mechanics and I'm sure they'll tell you about some that aren't looked after properly or are rough around the edges so paying for a good one will often save you money over the long term.

Thanks for that - your car looks great in the silver.
I have to say that I can't wait to pick the beast up and enjoy learning to drive all over again lol smile

Hi Steve,

By the looks of things in the current T350 classifieds, you'll pay anything from 2-5k possibly even more if you buy from a dealer rather than buying privately. I spent a good three years reading these forums, looking for the right car, asking the right questions... Luckily the private seller I bought from had put 12 months Tax and MOT on it and had just had the car serviced. So I consider myself pretty lucky I snapped it up in the 4 weeks I had visiting my homeland. Given the chance I would have gone for a TVR Power 4.3 but it wasn't to be.

Good luck with your search.
