I'm interested in getting some glow in the dark steering wheel buttons, seeing as illuminated switches the size of the cerbera's are rare or are to long. So thought about glow in the dark. I have asked my graphics guy as the sheet is £20 per metre, just wonder if there is an interest?

That's quite a neat idea - as long as they glow for a good period of time and not fade out after an hour or so.

For me the wash wipe, and wipers are fine, but can never remember the horn over the lights.

Have a look at this company...
http://www.glowfast.com/

Mainly marine products, but some of them are applicable to more generic uses.

I'm in.

Or what about the fluorescent material they use for the numbers on the side of LeMans racers.

The LM cars use electro-luminescent material, so it would need to be powered.

I'd like something to make them visible at night as well, but can't help but think that a simple glow-in-the-dark material doesn't really solve the problem. I don't see how anything other than a powered solution is a real improvement? Sorry, I hate being negative about ideas to make things better frown

Power shouldn't be an issue is there not a spare line in the ribbon?

It's the thickness of illuminated buttons that was the major hurdle.

Interesting - id rather change the centre Tvr badge to a horn button I'd that was possible.

Was looking at some buttons then thought about making it simpler with glowing stickers.

But continuing to look at the possibility of buttons. Searching searching.

Just a thought but most of us have the buttons with the black stickers on them with the white writing. it would only take a low powered UV/Blacklight LED mounted somewhere facing the wheel to light just the whites of the buttons up so they were visable at night. :-)

What do you think?

Guy.

Same here - been a fair few times I've randomly hooted at night and got flashed as I'm fumbling for the other button. I've only just about got it nailed after four years smile

That actually sounds like a solution... there must be a way to get a pointer Led probably mounted next to the rear view mirror pointing onto the steering wheel. That's how the center console of my dd is lit up also.

LED's ordered. I'll get back to you on this one once i've pointed one at the buttons at night...... With some pictures if my camera picks up the light reflected from the buttons. :-)

May have found a source for LED switches, should be receiving a sample of one soon, so can trail it and see how it goes.

Impossible to find the horn button when navigating a roundabout, which is when one is most likely to need it.

The button on the wheel could be changed to switch the fans on and off(?)
