Would you buy a new classic car made by the origional brand

I was wondering if lets say BMW blew the dust of the templates for the old E30 3 series and re programmed some robots to make them so i could go and buy a 62 plate E30 325i and weather they would sell well . For arguments sake we will assume they have addapted the car to meet modern safety and emmisions standards . What classic would you buy new and why . My lot is as follows .
1990 M5
1990 325i Convertible
1995 325i Coupe
2005 325i Coupe
1975 2002 Turbo
1990 Celica ST 185 Carlos Sainz
1959 Morris mini minor

What would be equivalent price of a new 79 RS2000 Custom today according to economic statistics, etc. Anyone know (general guideline) price conversion-figures for, say, 1970 to 1995?

I had an original unmolested one in 1986. From memory they were £5500 new, and they reckon the value of money doubles every ten years. So £11,000 in 1989, £22,000 in 1999 but then cars dropped in value, so I'd reckon on about £28,000 by today's money....

For equal money I'd rather an original classic than a new one built exactly the same.

No, they just bought back however many it was(a few hundred IIRC), stripped them, replaced that which was available new and reconditioned everything else, had the shells repaired, reassembled them and dispatched to their very keen new owners(I think the asking price was something around $40k). Quite a nifty and as far as I'm aware unique PR exercise. I think they may have applied a bit more care with regard to corrosion protection though.

Actually yes, now you mention that I remember reading something about that. They definitely needed corrosion protection. 70's Datsuns rusted as well as Alfas and Lancias.

I hate to rain on all your parades but none of these manufacturers would be able to produce the cars mentioned now. The reason for this is the colossal raft of safety and environmental legislation that has been imposed on manufacturers, particularly over the last 2 or 3 years.

The cars mentioned here just would not stand a chance of complying.
