Does anyone here work for the national grid as a substation engineer?
I have been looking at the NG website and see vacancies as a trainee substation engineer.
I'm currently working in a power station which is coming to the end of its decommissioning stage plus my contract ends next september.
I have all of the relevant qualifications to apply for the job and think that this is the next step in my career, so basically what i want to know is what's it like?

By all accounts a good company to work for, providing you can ignore the constant climate change indoctrination.
I applied as a Substation Craftsperson back in May. Had a good grilling at interview
, and although they were perfectly happy with my technical knowledge, my qualifications were a little under the level they wanted. Ho hum.
Just make sure you're well spammed up on their transmission voltages, 3 phase motors, hydraulic and pneumatic principles, and the history of the company.
