People like us need a safe haven to share our happiness, away from the cries of "your mental, you could've had three ropey old beemers for the same money".

I bought a new car this year. Its in the colour I wanted, in the spec I wanted. Its got a really good 3 year warranty with breakdown cover included. The tyres are new & even have those little knobbly bits round the side. Its very shiny and the interior smells wonderful. There are no bogeys hidden under the edge of the dash & no farts tucked away down the side of the seat. Nobody has ever used a crappy ice-scraper on the glass or a gritty sponge on the paintwork. It is..well, new!

I know could've had an old car with lots of life left in it for less money, but I really really really didn't want one, I don't think your a bad person for driving an old heap but don't think me crazy for wanting a shiny new unmolested car.

This is a safe place, feel free to open up and share your joy of buying a new car, this is a place for positivity, they can't reach us here, they're sat on a hard shoulder somewhere waiting for the RAC...again...

P.S. People who bought their new car on HP/PCP/lease/contract hire most welcome also, I know you can probably afford the payments comfortably, THEY'RE just jealous because they can't.

You're a fool and your kids will be forced to eat raw turnips due to your inevitable crushing debt problem. Please hand in your PH pass and leave.

I bought my mini new. Ordered a cooper s after test driving a cooper. They hadn't even started making the S yet but I just knew it would be good. Waited approx 6 months for them to start building them and then it came. I felt like the daddy mac that day. I remember turning up at the dealership and there it was on the forecourt looking, well brand spanking new of course. The salesman did his speech and I just had " shut up and give me those keys" in my head. I felt so proud. Spent ages choosing colours beforehand and during my 9 yrs of ownership I only ever saw one in the same cour/wheels combination (says much for my tastes maybe). Drive 2500 miles in the first week of ownership and loved every one.

Would I do it again?
Yep for the right car.

Also. It was on finance. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. It was worth every penny from start to finish.

Sold it and bought a TVR. It's broken now! But heck at least I missed the depreciation eh.

An E-Class estate. I'm not old, have no children & really could've made do with something a lot smaller, but I love big wafty comfortable barges, so I bought the car I wanted. The neighbours are probably confused & thoroughly unimpressed.

I know, crazy.

Which is why he hasn't replied - as he's the one sat at a roadside waiting for the RAC / AA, whilst I did 180 miles in my 17 year old Japanese sports car without any problems today smile

My name is Bob and I have a 12 plate Focus zetec s on finance, bloody love it too and I'm proud!

This is my third 'new' car now, to be honest I couldn't face going back and really couldn't face having a car out of warranty.

Besides, if nobody bought new cars there wouldn't be any secondhand bargains!

Becuase if its not new, it's an old heap, right? And you wonder why there is the constant tit for tat battle between those who buy brand new cars and those who don't with comments like that?

MX5 perchance?

I have one, 1991 vintage, its in the garage, broken. I do love it, but when it does work I have no idea how long it'll be working for hehe

I ran out of my usual argument when you said it was an E Class though, I was hoping it was a base spec Golf.

Throw me a bone, tell me its a 4 cylinder diesel? hehe

If it's just for warranty sake, I usually buy nearly new (1-2 year old cars) and sell them on when warranty runs out or when they need first MOT smile Sometimes, I also make a (tiny) profit.

I did the same when they launched the Cooper Convertible in 2005, spent ages speccing the car online to my own taste, ordered over the phone - my first visit to a MINI showroom was to pick up the car!

Drove it everywhere for a year and sold it for nearly what I paid (about £800 less) as there was still a waiting list and it was summer so MINI convertibles were in demand.

Who says new cars come with horrific depreciation!

PH makes me smile sometimes.

It's a twelve step process, admitting it on PH is the first step to getting yourself a ropey old Beemer smile
