Has anyone else had a problem with these? the plastic coating on my 'Griffith' badge has lifted for the second time

Had the coating on the 'TVR' badge pop off in extreme heat last summer. The badge is under some stress when bolted down because they are flat, but car bodies are curved. Bolting them down, then a bit of heat can pop them. Saying that, its the only time this has happened and Leven exchanged it with no drama at all - when it was about 9 months old.

My front one did this after about a year, I was careful not to over tighten and mounted it on a thick bed of silicon.

Leven swapped it, no problem.

Hi Apache how are you

I fancied one of levens badges but i brok the original one to bad to exchange it, i got a nice brass on from ebay, look good but its not smooth though, sitll levens do gove good service, have you thought of using a thin sheet of ribber gasget and shaping it to the curve of the bonnet so the badge stays flat ish.
this may not look as good though

I suggest you take it up with Leven directly...

We have supplied hundreds of badges over the years. The ones that go 'wrong' are usually those that have been either over tightened or cleaned with chemicials (traffic film remover can be quite strong alkaline) or even steam cleamers. Some people routinely clean their with steam cleaners/pressure washers despite TVR not recommending it!

Mine were held on with small sticky pads, and cable ties around the thread (as I dont have girl's fingers!), so no stress - and the resin still lifted!

...and I dont use harsh chemicals on my bodywork, anywhere.

Having said all that Leven replaced - no quibbling - and the new one has lasted 1 year.
