Hi all,

I was out for a blast with a few pals lastnight and a fellow Chim 450 owner suffered from a very clever sump plug managing to unscrew and remove itself before bouncing out the back of the car and straight onto a 500SL!!

I've undertaken the task of trying to find him a round magnetic plug, much like this one: https://shengltd.com/catalog/product_info.php?prod... however as Steve has closed down his operation, I'm a little stumped. I've had a quick look on TVR Power but with no luck. I understand RGC sell them for £16 but IMHO that's a little steep so I'm asking if anybody knows any other stockists?

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Either he needs a sump plug or he doesn't. If he isn't willing to pay £16 that means he isn't all that bothered. Tell him I will pay him £16 for his car if he doesn't want it.

Very helpfull post there rolleyes

I like Cheese and toast to add to that helpfulness.

On a useful note Might be worth trying the land rover sites i am sure some of the off roading type sites must sell the Allen cap Mag sump plugs.

Cheese and toast eh? Try bacon, peanut butter and jam toasties - they're epic! I know, it sounds gross but one day you'll be drunk and have a go, from then on in you'll be converted!

Thanks for all your help guys, he has bitten the bullet and bought the expensive one in an attempt to have everything sorted by the weekend. You should have seen his face when I told him it's going to rain on sunday...it was similar, I imagine, to the face pulled by the SL driver...

Some of the magnetic ones are not hex like a normal nut, they are round so if knocked underneath they're less likely to be dislogged.

Yes Scotty_D, that's exactly how it was discovered - now there's no going back!! The bacon must be crispy though!

Anyway, I just spoke to my mate and in an attempt not to give false info about RGC, the plug itself was £9.90. Postage and VAT put the total up to £18.40 so I take back what I said earlier in this thread about that seeming expensive, it's very reasonable.
