They want you to show them that your brakes work.

I am joking, but it is bloody tempting sometimes.

I truly have no idea and I think it's f***ng dangerous. I don't mind when I'm in the TVR but when in a diesel Passat estate I don't have the power to actually get past them !!

"Dum-ti-dum-ti-dum. Whoa, what's he playing at? Oh, I'm only doing 40, I'd better speed up".

Happens to people not paying attention all the time, I expect.

Half the time I think they are day dreaming and you wake them up when you overtake. They then drive at the higher speed for a while.

I had a lovely one of these last week on a B road- doing 40 in NSL and then 35 in the 30.

It was a police car (panda, not traffic)

So I lined up the overtake and blasted past, making sure not to go over 60. I definitely noticed that they hoofed it when they realised what was happening.

Luckily no pull, made my day biggrin

Some fker did it this morning to me. There is a short 2 lane bit ( for overtaking ) on the A30 which is National. I overtook at 60 a slower car doing 40.

Caught me completely out of VTEC and without any power. Was a close call.

Followed some numptie yesterday - doing 30ish down a country lane, braking for every slight bend down to 20. Of course when we got to the 30 limit where the road was straight they disappeared off at 40mph. Caught then in the next NSL and was lucky enough to find a clear straight long enough to overtake. Down the straight they then managed 50mph but vanished when the next bends appeared.

Wouldn't normally be a problem but was driving OH's 1.2 Micra - I still get held up.

This.

Really fks me off when they see you preparing for an overtake after driving like Miss Daisy for a mile or two and then suddenly speeding up at the time i decide to pass.

People speed up on straights you know. Maybe if you didn't overtake as soon as you left a series of bends they might get up to speed. Not everyone likes G-force on their commute.

10 years ago when someone saw you prepping they would help you.

Today in Britain everyone is small minded and mentally feeble so you don't give them any warning. Sit back calmly and wait and then bang it past before they get the idea of trying to kill you for your audacity.

Exactly what happened.

Riding along the A153, with a Renault just in front and the 40 mph cruiser ahead of him/her. They have a look down a straight, but don't go for it (probably expecting me to go for it first, afterall, it's a bike behind me, I know he wants to get past...) after a few corners onto the next straight I go for it, only to find the damn idiot has sped up...

I'm genuinely suprised they don't crash through boredom.

The bike was falling asleep...

But still worth overtaking them, as they will be crawling again as soon as they get to another bend. smile

This why I love driving in europe. Greece was probably the best for it thinking back.

If you had a faster car than the one in front and knew how to drive it properly this wouldn't be a problem.

Yes, but I've got a slower (on paper) vehicle than the one in front!

If you've caught them up, they're not going fast enough.

That's your problem not the car in front's.
