Best classic event you have participated in with your car?

I`m hoping to attend a few classic runs/shows next year in my newly restored car and was thinking if you were doing 5/6 events during the year what would be the most fun to do, if it includes a bit of track work all the better (not racing the budget won`t stretch at the moment!)......Martin

Did you do it in May? I was on holiday with the Wife, was parked up on a country road (the one that runs alongside the river Orchy and links the A82 with the Oban road) and various Malt Heroes thundered by. I met a load more dring back towards the A82.I only did one classic event, the RAC Norwich Union Classic in 1991. I was in a freshly restored 1275'S' and an aquaintance and I (in an ex works example) just hooned the whole event. The old farts in DB5's were not impressed!

Yep, we placed 6th overall and won our class. We were in my red Citroen DS. Absolutely top week. 1400 hard, fast miles, great hotels and food, amazing cars. Am already booked onto Throckmorton with HERO, will be doing their London Lisbon next spring too.I only did one classic event, the RAC Norwich Union Classic in 1991. Aah yes - we stopped and let you past! Was in the Mrs' dark blue 318i, an old E36. You (and we) were so lucky with the weather - we'd been picnicing down by the river when the first one went buy, a grey E Type I think.Yes, the weather was astonishing for the whole week. Most of us got burned, my left arm (as my car is LHD) was red and sore by the end!
This is me purging after the shock of the Rest & Be Thankful hillclimb, I damned nearly wet myself as we hit the finish line (that we were supposed to stop astride) at about 50mph (my fault entirely, my navigator was shouting at me to stop but I had the red mist - the video is on Youtube). There was a crowd of people there and I had all 4 wheels locked up and not slowing. Was the hardest thing in the world to let off the brakes and steer away so I didn't mow them all down...

I enjoy the "Godiva run" good fun, good atmosphere and an eclectic collection of vehicles.

The Norwich Union (as it was) now the MSA classic, not run in 2012, maybe in 2013 always used to be good, with a few tracks on the route, also Haynes tours were similar, not sure if they still happen.
Doesn't involve track driving, but Goodwood rivival, being able to park in the forward carpark if you have a pre 73 is a bargain (free with entry ticket)

We have done both the Silverstone Classic and the Coventry Festival of Motoring many times. I would have to say that the Coventry run (the "Godiva" run) is the best weekend because it is all marques (we do a lot of single marque stuff so this is a pleasant change), it is a whole weekend of car fun, and it includes a drive as well as a static element. It is the only run we regularly do where there are crowds of people out waving us past. Great fun and coming up very soon . . . we'll be there!Not too far from you but I think all the entries to the run are complete.
