Second Hand Wheels

I've just committed to buy some second hand wheels (nothing special) from a well known auction site. I won't be paying until I collect them so I want to able to give them a quick check over. I doubt I'll be able to 'ride' them so it will be a case of spinning them in a bike frame (hopefully) or just in my hands. I clearly know to look for buckles or non-linear surfaces, out of roundness and smoothnes of bearings. Brake wear surfaces also will be looked at. Other than pinging spokes for notes (for even-ness of tension) is there anything else I should be looking for?

If they are fitted to a frame, with the skewers done up tight check for any lateral play in the bearings by moving them side to side. They will probably move a little but should not touch the brake pads (providing the pads are well adjusted). Also check the freehub engagement by back pedalling and then pedalling forwards
