RE: Facelifted Lexus LS leaked

These are the first images of the new Lexus LS, leaked onto the web a few days before the facelifted version of ToMoCo's flagship limo gets its official debut in San Francisco.
If these pics are anything to go by, the refreshed LS has been given a GS-style makeover by Lexus's styling department. Main visual differences for the new car seem to include new headlamps, revised tail lights and Lexus's now signature gaping grille.

It's also reported that the car in these pictures is the new F sport version, an M Sport-esque model that gets tweaked exhausts, a rear diffuser, new front and rear bumpers, and new side skirts.
Question is, does it work or is it a bit too sport-tastic for a limo-barge flagship?

Same reason Renault 'diamonds' get bigger I expect. Some kind of desperate attempt to keep things in proportion as cars grow.Is there really much use to use words like leaked, spotted or secret in these things?
Manufacturers know exactly what their doing with these things to get publicity. Including the camouflaged test mules etc. Surely it just makes the journalists sound either really naive that they think they've found something secret. Or pretty patronising?

That looks really, really good. I would have one.
If it looks as good as this in the flesh I can see them picking up conquest sales from Jaguar. Specifically, customers who want a sporting luxury saloon but for whom the XJ is too radical.
What powertrains are going to be offered? The current LS is hybrid-only.

We don't mean to be patronising, it's nothing more than a way of describing images or info that haven't been disseminated via an official source.Manufacturers know exactly what their doing with these things to get publicity. Know what you're saying with test mules etc, but believe me when I say most images like this are not leaked deliberately by the manufacturer.
What happens is that they'll be sent in advance to selected outlets under embargo, but that embargo information doesn't always get passed on to the right people - ie the button-monkey who actually posts things up. Thus, images and info 'leak' out ahead of a planned launch date.
