Had the bonnet on my Alfa repainted 2 weeks ago. A bird has on it and now the bonnet is badly marked, totally gutted.

I've cleaned the bonnet and clayed it to no avail. Any suggestions or do I need to get it painted again? I certainly can't live
With it.

How long was the bird st on it? Maybe the paint hadn't completely hardened...

It happened today, the car is solid black and has been parked in sunlight all day.

Ha ha, my OCD vindicated at last!

My G/F and some of my mates royally take the piss out of me for having a box of these in my glovebox. However, because I do, I've not experienced the pain that you have! Buy some...

Odd - have had baked on bird poo on black cars before and it is come off OK by soaking with a wet sponge and claying. Paint cleaner/polish has sorted out any marks.

Ask the bodyshop what they advise? If it has hardened maybe use paint cleaner/polish as mentioned, then get a car cover!

That doesn't help when I'm at work and the car is parked in an open air carpark

Some droppings can be a nightmare depending on what the bird ate.

A cleanser/polish with light abrasives may work, but if it's etched the clearcoat you're probably going to need a more abrasive polish or even a wet sand followed by a polish. It shouldn't need repainting though.

I hope can be sorted without painting it again.

After I had my car resprayed (without being oven backed) and the guy told me that the lacquer would take approx a month to fully harden. The chances are that you will need to T-Cut the mark out, but I'd advise waiting for a few more weeks until you are absolutely sure the paint has hardened. If you go at it too early you could make it worse.

I'm going to get the bodyshop to sort it. Just gutted, I spend a lot of money keeping on top of the maintenance of my car as im obsessed with looking after it.

Had bird lime on my brand new car - must of been sat on the door for around 3-4 days before being prepared. Body shop machine polished it out within 30 mins.. They will know the right corrective action.. Good luck!

No worries, but keep them hidden - or you WILL experience piss taking like I did smile

My daughter's metallic black Ibiza had a massive splodge across the bonnet that had really dulled the clearcoat. T-Cut didn't seem to touch it but AutoGlym paint renovator got most of it off - it feels much more aggressive than T-Cut though, snd I probably chickened out earlier than I needed to.

Proper cutting compound will remove it.

Unless the car has been painted in base and clear and it has broken the surface of the clear in which case it will need repainting.

SRP is full of fillers, so you may find that most of that is from the SRP hiding it and it'll start to show again after a while. Hopefully not, but something to be aware of.

You need one of these

I had one for my Porker. It's a lovely, proper bit of kit, if you love your cars as much as I do biggrin
