When the starter motor engages all is well and the engine starts first go.

Occasionally, I just get a click and no response from the starter motor. This can occur several times in a row and then it will connect and all is fine again. I am now worried that I shall be stuck somewhere. There is always only one click per key turn. The battery is in excellent condition.

I would appreciate some help in diagnosing whether the starter motor is shot, which I doubt as when engaged it works beautifully, or whether there is something else which requires some attention.

Many thanks in advance. Foggy

Bad contact in the solenoid on the starter motor. Either replace it or if it is not crimped together it is possible to dismantle it and clean the contacts and make sure it slides easily in its case.

Remove all earth cables, clean them up and bolt up tight.

There's one to the engine and the one to the box.

Aren't you supposed to be doing your car?

If you have that much spare time I have a set of Lupo lights you can fit to mine. :P

So that would be a rack of ribs on the BBQ then Peter? Why aren't we all invited if you are having a BBQ?

Seconded - firstly he blows us all off at Alexs the other weekend (steady on there BubblesChimp and ChimpOfDoubleEntendre) and now he's sneaking a barbie at his country estate!

We're snubbed!

I will have a barbie after next month, all invited. smile.

Update, steering pump fitted, piped up, exhaust on, suspension adjusted, just got to set the tappets, rockers and plenum on.

Feeling a bit fooked after 4 hours sleep!
