Yoko Advan Neova AD08 - anyone tried these?

I cannot comment on them with a Porsche, but I had them on my FD2. They are damm grippy, with a strong sidewall. I ran them on the road and track. Totally sensational tyre for the road(dry) and perform fairly well on track. They do seem to chew up quickly on track though.
I am running the ad07s the now on my supercharged lotus, again, fantastic tyre. For the road I'd go for the 08s over the triple 8s and other way about for track.

I fitted AD08's to my 996.1 GT3 last summer as there were no 888s available at the time.
I am very impressed by them - they will be good for your intended use - heat up quickly and last very well also. Plus for the road they do not make the horrendous whirring noise that you get from 888s. They do go off before 888s in the dry and you do get a bit of squealing, but all controllable and no lack of confidence with them. They soften the ride compared to 888s too.
The rears are just about worn out, although still road legal and I have done 2 x Ring trips, another drive to the Ring and back and 3 Donington track days - so last very well.
They are a good price too - shop around - the rears (295/30/18) are only £232 from pneus online at the moment

Sounds a good wet tyre. Make sure you keep them cool when a dry line develops as they will probably go off quick ish if they are similar in characteristic to A008. My experience of A008's in the wet is reasonable. They are certainly a much better set tyre than the cup. How do these Yokos compare to, say, R888s?

sorry to chime in late, but i know quite a few people who like them for a street use tyre on their 6GT3s with the option to double up for use on a wet track day and really like them. that being said theres probably about as many just use PS2 for this role aswell though.
the folks who use the AD08 seem to think its pretty durable and faster.

Will do, fioran0. The car is still en route from the Middle East and expected to arrive early August, then will spend a few days being UK homologated and registered, so it might be late August by the time I can review them properly.
BTW, just as an aside, I have heard good things about Federal 595 RS-R and they are surprisingly good value, but rears are only available in a 285 width so I passed on those.

Hi Neil and others - thought I would update you on the tyres as it's been a year.
I've only now had a chance to do my first track day since the car's been back and rebuilt. Torrential downpour at Goodwood this Saturday - not the best track to do a shake down!
The tread depth on the AD08s allows a reasonable clearance of standing water, though I was careful to pick a (drier) line, to the extent it was possible. Braking in the wet was pretty hopeless as expected, and there were plenty of hairy oversteer moments despite my geo set to neutral to slight understeer.
Not really the right conditions to drive at ten tenths but I guess they stood up OK. The tyres didn't get a chance to overheat so we'll have to reserve judgement on that. The chap in a 7.2RS refused to go out on Cups and I think I might have felt the same, so overall the Yokos are probably the right choice for all weather usage.
Traction in the dry is quite impressive - certainly at road speeds it's difficult to break free at the rear, though it's hard to know how the tyres behave in extremis until I've tried a dry track day.

I use ad08's on my 944 track car - I think they are great budget track tyres. They wear well, stand up to high temps pretty well and let go quite progressively. You notice a drop off in grip after 20+ min session on a hot day but they don't fall apart or wear excessively even then. The tyres wear evenly on my car.
They were quite tricky in the wet at Donington in december - although that's mainly driver limitations I think. This was a well worn set with 2-3 mm.
I haven't tried ao48's on this car but from previous experience I would expect them to be grippier but not as long lasting. So ad08's are not up with the best road legal track tyres but that's not a big issue for track days I think. I run AD08s on my MX5, great all round tyre, it's taken some severe abuse on track in its stride and seems to last extremely long. Obviously on a heavier, more powerful car like a 911 they will wear quicker, but I think you'd still be impressed with their wear rate. They aren't as grippy as R888s, more in between those and a road tyre, but still grippy nonetheless. One point of note is that the AD08s come with 60% more tread than the R888s (8mm vs 5mm) so are easier on the wallet.
